Lets get some dialogue going about the TRUTH about people.

Welp, reading that mess about Dick Renegade and POA's response to our opinions of him made me want to ask:
Why must people get so upset/offended/hurt, when they find out that not everything is all peachy keen? That the people they know aren't always the people we have them idealized to be?
And why should we preserve only the good memories of people after they die? What's wrong with embracing ALL aspects of a person's personality, and being able to admit how ty they were capable of being in their life? What is it about dying that makes people want to hide the truth?
Also, who ing cares if someone disrespects a loved one's memory? People who do that are making nobody but themselves look foolish, and it doesn't/shouldn't change our OWN memories.
I'll share my own experience of this:
My father died when I was 14. Hit by a car while cycling. After that happened I found out that some people thought of him as an arrogant, selfish prick. Did that bother me? Did I get offended by it? No.
The reason being is because HE WAS HUMAN. Human's arent perfect. I loved my father, and he was both a good and bad person. He didn't fail in raising me and I'll always remember all the valuable things he taught me, and the sacrifices he made for my sister and I. But like some other people, I will also remember what a dick he could sometimes be.
Personally I think it's better to acknowledge these truths about people, especially in death. It reminds us that we ARE human. Plus that's just reality.
I dunno, I guess for me a lot of the reason I don't have problems with this is because I'm so comfortable with death.
I'm not asking these questions for clarification, I already have my own opinion. I just want to know what you all think!
NO, THERE ISN'T A SHORT VERSION!!

First of all I am sorry about your loss, I too lost my mother when I was 13 years old. It is a very difficult thing to deal with, especially at that age! Now, I work at a retirement home now and I deal with the reality of death every week:( it sucks, but such is life!
I don't get to offended knowing that things are not going to be perfect. I think you and I both learnt a long time ago that life is anything but perfect!

people are entitled to make their own opinions about whatever the hell they want to.
realizing that people have that right is better than making an opinion yourself.
perception is reality. and people perceive everything differently. so one person's account of someone may [and will] vary.
that's what is so great about being different and unique amongst a crowd/group of people.
its a shame people can't respect that.
ps, definitely a different side of you i'm seeing, jenny....it's rather refreshing. |

no seriously i agree. Its just the internet FFS. So i dont understand why Angel got so pissed, but i also dont understand why people went out of thier way to write bashing paragraphs about DR cause hes dead now. But when im on the internet im just a middles aged black man among all the young trancers, so what do i know. Also i know it was a long time ago, but still sorry about your dad. |
