They did uphold the law. The kid had no ID, he was asked to leave, he refused and acted all selfrighteous, he got the taser...where is the crime on the police side? |
what idoru said, but that's not what i meant anyway, i was referring to the anecdote of the 'racist' cop. |

Good for that emo ing kid, He should'nt have told the officer to get off him the first place. If he was from the hood , he would've known that you never talk back to an officer, if he listened to his commands in the first ing place , he wouldn't have gotten the tazer. Then you hear the other UCLA students, majority of them probably pampered by their parents, saying things like "don't do that" , "get off him" and bull like that, ye , like that's going to help.
You can call me anything you guys want, I'm speaking from experience on this one. Police officers go through every day and risk their ing lives usually for a 30 to 35k a year starting salary and so it's easy for them to get pissed off. I have a Puerto Rican friend in the bronx who's in the 49th precinct and he's been a patrolman for a little over a year now. I've always known him to as being a mellow headed kid, but after a little over a year in the force , he told me he can't stand the morenas(African Americans)and other Latinos and caucations that he pulls over. I've never known him to be a racist, but after a little over a year in the force , he told me some stories you wouldn't believe. So before you jump the ing "omg, that wasn't right" wagon, consider the these officers go through. If that pampered UCLA student would've kept his mouth shut and not told the officers to "get off him" he would've been fine. |
I'm sorry if I underestimate the dangers that UCLA cops go through, but since you're talking about the pampered students, why don't you mention how easy of jobs the UCLA cops have compared to those that your friend deals with in the Bronx?
If they shock some, as you put it "emo kid," 5 times for not leaving a library fast enough, what would they do if they were in a dangerous area like Compton or the Bronx? Shoot to kill?
Since your cop friend gets to stereotype and you accept it, here's mine: More often than not, college campuses are not the crime capitals you're referring to and these cops probably do nothing more than arrest 18 year-olds for underage drinking and smoking pot, not actions that actually dangerous to others. This kid talking back is probably the worst thing that they've had to deal with, therefore they may have felt this was appropriate. |

Still applies to your point of view, just replace US with your name ;) Conforming for the sake of conforming and having a "smoother" life is pathetic in my books, ************ of circumstances. |

So, the majority of the world, those that do 'conform', they're pathetic are they?
Figures of authority have been put there for a reason, and you might find this hard to swallow, but it's for YOUR own good.
I don't conform for the sake of conforming, you're throwing in things you've made up. I see a lot of point in doing what I'm told to do. People haven't made the rules purely for the sake of pissing me off, they've done it for the benefit of society as a whole.
The big advantage of my conforming is that no one tazers me, no one locks me in prison and I get the satisfaction that I'm functioning as a decent and respected member of society.
Your attitude, much the same as my rather juvenile younger brother, is typical of this belief these days that rules ARE meant to be broken, and it's your right to do WHATEVER you want. You cannot.
Grow up!

I'll admit to one thing, they shouldn't have tazered that more than once, it's obvious by the way he was screaming like a woman giving birth that he was a bitch. Like I said he brought it on to himself, the fact remains if he did show his ing i.d. and kept his mouth shut he wouldn't be on the floor wimpering. Police officers are trained to react in certain ways, it was a lot better to be tazered than to catch a beating with a night stick. The last time I was arrested with 2 friends of mine was when I used to live in the Bronx, an undercover police officer jumped out of an unmarked Ford with his partner , he said with a loud tone "turn around , put your hands above your head, lock your fingers and spread your legs", we did as we were told, if any of us were stupid enough to say anything along the lines like "get off me", it would've been worse than a tazering for us.
The fact also remains that by the UCLA student refusing to show id and telling the officer to get off him is breaking the law. It's not like that emo kid caught a Rodney King beating, the tazer was for his own good. I do agree that they went a little far by tazing him more than 2 times, but to be honest, if I was there, I would've laughed. |
