I'm going to say this as unbiased as possible, but we don't know what was said in the first place, therefore we have no grounds to say whether or not Richards was right. How do we know the group of people weren't throwing racial slurs at him from the beginning? Then again, how do we know they weren't?
It's my personal belief that if you can't stomach having people act towards you in a certain manner, then you shouldn't be acting like that towards other people. I only bring this up because people are making such a big deal about Richards pulling the race card while you can clearly hear the heckler calling him a "cracker-ass" and not being reprimanded for it.
I'm not trying to defend him, but I'm not trying to say that he was in the wrong, either. I can only hope that he doesn't mean anything that was said. Unless someone has a video of the entire argument, then judging his actions is pointless.

Yes we do. It was already established that the black guy was heckling Kramer. In other words the black guy was probably booing him or telling him how lame his jokes are. Basically anything to do with heckling.

It's called natural response or giving him a taste of his own medicine. If I killed somebody's mom in front of them and laughed about it, I'm pretty sure they would want to get back at me one way or another as was the case with the black guy. Kramer called the guy the 'n' word and he responded.

There are plenty of other ways to deal with people like that. Sadly he chose the most stupidest defense.
