..I dunno. I'd have more change in my pocket.

Just like Blues is different from what it was many years ago and modern 'Country' sure as hell isn't your mom's Merle Haggard LPs, I find that trance (and EDM in general) is quite unlike what it was even five years ago. Sure, the popularity of some genres come and go but the sound itself and the technologies used to make it are constantly changing. Being in the position I'm in, believe me when I tell you I hear a *lot* of music that simply defies description and simply falls into the 'Good', 'Different' and 'Completely Ass-Backwards' categories. Wherever it's going, I'm excited to see the path - But there's no way that Ferry Corsten killed anything.

It'll be like, 'heresy! You shall be cleansed with fires of house tunes!' And the lynch mob comes.

Ah, the amusement

mmmm, Sander K....

The dumbest thing about this argument: Ferry comes to TO for LoL and plays hours of old school hands in the air trance.

No, that would be an insult. Let them stick to their Space terrace trash.

someone should write Justin a letter, he brought sexy back, maybe he can do it for trance???

Seriously, no one person can kill a whole genre of music... If the people that listened/bought/played his music thought it was crap, well then bye bye ferry. But that hasn't happened, weither he produced or spun some music that wasnt "trance" by definition someone has liked it, someone has kept ferry around, someone has liked his sound. How can you blame a single artist for the decline or evolution of a sound.

In my opinion DJ's are artists. So therefore, whether they are producing or playing in a club, its totally up to them to play whatever they want.
And this is mainly why I never expect a DJ to play anything typical of a past set or night when he/she come here to Toronto. I find I enjoy their set a whole lot more this way....but thats a different topic.

Attributing Ferry Corsten's productions over to synth-pop or pop-trance should not represent the overall state in the Trance community,
but rather the artist himself. There are many other DJ's out there playing a mix of things. People should see this as a change in the artists style.
Some DJ's will always play trance and nothing but it, and others will experiment and try new things.

Especially now with many DJ's going out and producing their own tracks, they get a chance to experiment and produce something they like and they feel is unique.

Ferry will always be IMHO a fantastic DJ, no matter what he produces or plays.
