some of his tracks i LOVE and they are truly amazing (the older stuff)

and that some of the stuff is not even real trance anymore, even at labour of love for a good period of time he was playing that wierd style that he plays.. maybe till about 7 - 8 am when he started playing melodic goodness.

if ferry came to headline on his own, i dont know if i would make it out to see him or not cuz i would be bored for half of his set

ferry corsten is the only one actively producing still...
you'll get the odd tracks from tiesto or armin ...

Maybe if funk einsatz decided to do nothing then this thread would have never happened

well if you think about something like the ethnic background of the crowd for whom djs play as well as the location where djs play, essentially djs have to adopt their style for the particular area, take Canada for example Toronto is a very house dominant city, primarily house music is dominating our scene, thus when some headliners play in Toronto their sounds might me more or less progressive then lets say in Quebec where djs would play something more techy and hard vs BC where its epic and melodic. in Europe if you play in Balkans and god forbid you do not spin techno, at some of clubs, festivals you might get a rock dropped on your turntables in the worst case scenario or in the best case scenario you'll get tomatoed, a lot of djs don't play what they want to, and really if you think about it one of the best headliner spots available at any club on any given night falls under the last one simply for 2 reasons a) people are F*KED out of their tree on booze / drugs and they will dance to whatever the dj plays b) the dj could play anything he wants b/c they are more accepting due to the fact that the crowd is in their best state of mind. as for ferry corsten and the other big djs well lets face it they can play what ever da f*ck they want and nobody could say anything different simply b/c they are a) paid to play what ever they want b) their accommodations are paid for and c) they are big enough to draw; and for the record ferry didn't kill trance if you want to blame some one for making electro / house big maybe you should consider to be mad @ pete tong and john digweed :haha:

I only read the first few sentences b/c the huge paragraph was hard to follow....but I think I agree with what you're saying.

I've heard Armin spin in a variety of locations and he spins differently in Toronto than he does in other cities. Personally I prefer him elsewhere!

ferry corsten is one of the producers and dj's that till this day KEPT TRANCE FROM DYING!!!!

+1. Ive never enjoyed (read: LOVED!) his Toronto appearances, but for 2 or 3 times.

I always find I enjoy listening to sets spun elsewhere better.

Someone on tribe decided to bring this discussion over to their board, and the thread fell flat on its face (cuz lets face it, tribe could give a about this matter).

http://www.tribemagazine.com/board/...ad.php?t=126263

First off, the thread starts with this:
so noticed this thread posted on another website which shall remain nameless and I found it VERY interesting... I think we should continue this debate here...I am shocked we aren't already.
then when no one is taking the bait, says this:
well this guy was talking to many in the industry and they feel that ferry has killed it...
Makes me believe that bombthreat23 = sufee_b, especially since even here he doesn't like to name his sources. LMAO! Yet he tries to deny its his thread when he sees people jumping on him when they suspect its his.

Hahhaha thanks for posting Nat. Hilarious! It's funny b/c more than 90% of the ppl posting in this thread completely disagree with "Ferry killing it"

i really havent quite figured out what the basis of this whole 'trance is dead' argument is but i dont think ne1 outside of those who actually produce music around here should have a right to comment on it

im fairly certain that most of the people here (myself included) havent got a clue about the evolution of dance music over the years...if trance is dead according to you then it has turned out to be a good thing because it seems to have resulted in increasing turnouts to EDM events, growing popularity of the djs which in turn has resulted in increased revenue for all those involved in the industry and if you think that producers should give all that up just to entertain a minority of the population then think again.

if you are happier listening to house music lately then good for you, if you have given up going clubbing because ferry killed trance then shame because about 50 people have come in for each one of you that dropped out. Complaining about trance dying is ultimately just a waste of your time and if you really think strongly about it then go ahead and produce a track you think is epic and resembles the 1999 days.
