Well, I been happy with Toshiba laptops for over last 5-6 years and I been hearing they been making them better and better. (My friend can give you a very good deal on an HP.)
Otherwise most important thing in buying a Laptop is the insurance you are buying along with it. I suggest you get a 3 year expandable insurance with an option of a laptop exchange upon your 4th repair. Its most important!!!

yea i've had toshiba over the past 6-7 years.. reliable and solid.. the Satellite model usually gets top ratings in Consumer Reports in the non-workhorse categories. (got it this year too.) if you're going for workhorse, i would go mac. |

If you use your laptop more then 50% at home: I suggest taking the battery out and keeping out unless you taking your laptop somewhere. That is the best way to save your battery and the juice doesn't run out making the battery last the time its suppose to run after years of using your laptop.;)
EDIT: Oh, and if you plan to DJ with your laptop at a club: get the Laptop that has the keyboard glowing in the dark VIA LED or repaint the keyboard letters with the glow in the dark paint. whatever works. (i think for like $200 bucks you can get your keyboard replaced with them see-through letters keyboard and install LEDs behind the keyboard.) :tongue3 |

Don't spread incorrect information. In fact removing the battery from some laptops(apple laptops to be more specific) can cause unrepairable damage to the hard drive along with the motherboard.
In other words keep the battery in at all times the system knows when to charge and when not to charge the battery. |

Im sure with pc's I use both aswell. Removing the hard drive can have disastrous effects. I believe the battery in a laptop acts a sort of capacitor and without it there is nothing to prevent a power surge or sudden power loss from damaging your laptop. |
