Seriously I remember when electro house was really peaking a few years back having endless arguments with people telling them it isn't electro and that it sounds nothing like electro. But they eventually won and I started calling it electro house too.

another "[insert genre here] is dying" thread.

i'm not suggesting the process is inevitable, but it's predictable.

Thats exactly the point...

Minimal is not dying...

Minimalism is not a genre in itself.

Pioneers of minimalism have started doing that in the early 90s

I started listening to it when it wasn't mainstream at all, and I will continue to listen to it when the craze will be over...

No genre (if half of them even truly exist) ever "dies." They often simply reach a level where the broad market for EDM is so completely saturated with one "idea" of how music should sound, that it can take ages of wading through garbage to find gold.

For me, that's half the fun - and is indicative of the eb and flow of the music world in general, not necessarily at all unique to dance music.

The think I hate most about minimal right now. Is people labeling my mix sets as minimal.

anyone that shats on minimalectro obviously hasn't heard of Trentemoller or Tiefschwarz... those two monkeys are creating an ubersound that will drain your emotions like a crazy weekend and a drug habit will unto your wallet.
