| Actually minimal and electro stuff are way better in a club, though some sets are nice to listen to at home. |

Cheers Harold - Appreciate the support
And I think you nailed it - The whole minimal backlash definitely started around 2 conferences ago and has slowly but surely escalated over the ensuing 2 and a half years. It's interesting to think how even in the last 2 and a half years, the perception of what is and is not "minimal" has changed so much. |

From discussions i read and talks i hear, people kinda "point the finger" if you will to beatpport and M_nus (richie hawtin and posse). I dont agree wholeheartedly with such notions. Richie and the M_nus crew just have a good marketing approach going for them. So i think people tend to kinda say "minimal" is the M_nus sound. Beatport turned out to be a successful vision by peeps amongst aquaviva and rich, that supports most EDM festivals, club nights etc.. (they have even sponsored a night for us here in miami were we my collective booked derrick may, stacy pullen, bryan zent. They just file releases under "minimal" who cares..some of it is good music some of it is souless crap. I think the minimal hipsters dont even use "mnml" any longer. I guess its so passe for them now (the start of the minimal blacklash).
Lets just keep enjoying MUSIC. labels, and genres.
I prefer it faceless.to keep it interesting, but thats just me.

Neither of them are minimal nor electro artists. See the above post for a definition of electro. And if you can't be bothered looking those records up, please shut up. |
