| Whichever you find better to use yourself, it really makes no difference. |

| Logic is better if your not so creative with limitations. |

| I'm assuming you already have a Mac. If not, I would recommend that you get Ableton or Cubase to go along with Reason rather than buying Logic. Reason is fully capable to do professional tracks on its own, but if you want access to VSTs, then that is what I recommend. |

I prefer reason. But it all depends on what u want. Logic has all the oppertunities to connect vst and stuff. Reason is better with there usability. And when u know reason well, u can create almost every sound out of it.
I only use cubase with it to play my hardware synths.

| Daniel Kandi does his tracks in reason 3.0. thats enough proof to me that its a powerful sequencer, especially with all those sounds coming out of factory synths. |

It would probably be better if you tried both of them out yourself. But for a start I prefer the softsynths and effects over Reason. |

reason is a toy. it looks like a toy. feels like a toy
a SIMULATION of analog equiptment, looks pretty
sounds like a toy, i got it as a god damn toy
the reason im into producing trance is Reason
but i started producing after i realized that reason is a god damn toy
alright, i have issues with reason, so i'll say this without a bias.
to compare logic with reason is rediculous.
if you have the chance to get logic, get logic. you may be off to a slow start (since i don't know what's included in logic) but you won't be building yourself a cage right from the start
sure there are samplers, synths, a drum machine within Reason. you can have yourself an orchestra if you life. its a good tool to study composition of a range of styles, and have happy accidents of new sound discovery... all at the price of LOW cpu, and LOW quality of sound
i was beating myself for not being able to produce that one bass, reason isn't the tool to produce that bass. really.
with any mixing, mastering, reason becomes difficult. you are left to the mercy of your ears. no visual aid or percision with what's available so you're left trusting recipies. any tutorials for the majour daws, and you feel left out. a recommended vst ... a free one? dream on buddy. the thing isn't professional, compare it to something else other than logic
here, check out The Trance Experience, by Torsten Fassbender
http://www.sound.org/titles2.html
a book on producing and mixing a trace track
this book is best used with Logic, although i have cubase and it still is quite comfortable within that realm
don't ever hope for finding a good tutorial for reason, CM had one ... you know wich part of the digestive system it was produced in? that's waht the trance track sounded like
im a hateful mofo, but please don't compare reason wiht logic |

i used reason 3.0 for awhile but recently i switched to logic pro 7 and... i am never going back to reason 3.0
the quality of sound that comes out of logic pro is insane compared to reason... yes yes i know you can get the same quality in reason but its so hard to get (atleast for me). also i felt limited in that i could not use any vst's with reason directly and i didnt want to have to link reason with another program because it would just waste cpu power and get confusing IMO...
I do miss being able to make a rough draft of a song in 10 minutes with reason.. only takes me longer in logic because im basically relearning everything...
bottomline: if you are just starting out... get reason.. it can definetly make quality music and once you realize if you are serious or not, you can make the step to something like logic pro...
but:
if you have the money, buy and learn logic pro now don't wait till further down the road to switch if you are very serious about producing...
these are just my (incoherent) thoughts so dont bash me =p
