If health food was the common thing amongst people to eat, it would be much less expensive...this isn't likely to happen anytime soon though.

lol

love the economic angle on it.

Exactly. There's too much money to be made off of people being fat. Convincing people to eat healthier is like convincing them to wake up and realize that their government is a ing sham and lies to them and spends their money to kill children thousands of miles away - quite doubtful everyone is going to listen, or even the majority is going to listen for that matter.

It would seem as though the sole responsibility for reversing this trend lies within the companies who sell the majority of fast food. Perhaps if McDonald's bought out 24 Hour Fitness centres, we would see some progress. :stongue:

the problem I have is that I want to be obese, but I can't. I follow all of your guy's advice, I eat mcdonalds all the time, I never exercise, and just in general eat a lot of high fat foods (not to mention I do live in america!!) and I cannot for the life of me get obese.

any suggestions?

bonus 10 cool points to anyone that gets my point.

IMO the problem is TV.

Capitalism does a lot of good things, but it really does seem to be part of the problem here: Sell people cheap crap food, they get fatter, they eat more, doctors and surgeons make more money, pharma profits go through the roof -- everybody wins -- economically, at least.

The bad outweighs the good.

I'm not sure how one would measure that. Regardless, capitalism is the result (for now) of a relatively high degree of economic freedom, although some areas do need regulation to avoid systemic inefficiencies (like America's terrible insurance system).
