What are you talking about, Ben?! You and I always have so much fun in the trifecta washing machines with Randy right in front of those weak ass duo-Asian-machines!! <3 :haha: |

Agreed. I don't know why people think i has to do with a certain type of music that people don't like Avalon. It's the venue itself. Take Ferry for instance. For me personally, I've had way more fun when Ferry played at Circus (like Day One, Live @ Spundae LA CD recording, etc.) than when he had his recent residency at Avalon. Same DJ, but the different venue made it a less enjoyable night. |

RE: Washing Machines: I must admit that some of my friends like to get a little "agitated". When I'm involved I try to use the "gentle cycle". Maybe LA is different than SF, but it doesn't seem to be that much of an issue up here. I bump and get bumped by all kinds of people and a smile from both parties seems to be standard. Of course there are always people that are "way to ed up" but I'd rather they be on E than drunk (from a standpoint of my own personal safety).
I don't go for the multi-person "washing machine" though. I call that the "rattleshake". I prefer the "bunny hop" but that's only good for house music or "happy trance". |

I look at it from a different persepective though. I love not only Avalon, Vanguard and Spundae for what they are, I love them for the diverse DJ talent that each brings.
Point is, there are many attributes to each club that in my honest opinion give off the right vibe. I think most of you are being way to picky about what club belongs where and what should be prosperous in each club. It's mostly you pure trance heads that have the high expectations. Broaden your electronic horizon and you might enjoy a club or two! :haha: |
I have to admit that I loved Spundae-Circus, its space and vibe, some of its nuances notwithstanding.(myself being a trance head)
I agree with zealot and recognize the uniqueness of each of the three venues and the music associated with them. But on the same token, with the Spundae-Avalon union, there will no longer be three parties, which is the unfortunate part. Unless things change with the new collaboration, it just seems that Spundae moving to Avalon will just make the already-less-than-ideal situation at Avalon worse(lines/security/space), and at the same time giving EDM fans less option. IMHO, it has the potential to reduce the music diversity in a given week/month and this ultimately can lead to there being less talent being invited overall. For example, you won't ever see Zabiela at Avalon on the same weekend as Rank1 at Spundae-Circus because Spundae is at Avalon now.(unless Spundae-Avalon starts booking big talent EVERY WEEKEND because of their draw, which would make this a moot point)
Having said that, I'm enjoying this thread, reading what others think. |

I'm sure you were aware of this BUT I wasn't trying to justify Spundae and Avalon intertwining as one club, I just wanted to make some points as to why and how each club is enjoyable in their way. I'm not for the two clubs combining for the reasons that I stated earlier in that I thoroughly enjoy each and what they all have to offer. I've learned that myself and most of my friends have become so picky over the past couple of years because we've been getting bombarded with all this great DJ talent.
The foremost point that I make is this: I've created a solid amount of good EDM friends that I mix with whichever club I go to and if you're with your friends listening to the music that makes your life what so fun and so great, what is there to complain about, really? |

amen to that lex. this is what i have actually been saying since i started hearing this rumor. its a double edged sword. if they do it right, fix the problems, then it will be an awesome move. if they dont though it will be the worst decision ever. |
I think that you misused the term double edged sword for this analogy. Doesnt that term mean you will get ed either way?
an awesome move wont get you ed right? |

no. the term double edged sword means that the outcome can be good and bad at the same time. similar to you win some you lose some. |

I haven't been out too much in SF, but I do have to say that I've seen very few washing machines the times that I have gone out. :D :D |
