I guess I never usually use 1, I usually set the first one, then one at the end. If a tune doesnt drift, this always works fine, and its quick.

Yeah exactly, and then there's some that just DONT cooperate.

But for the most part, 111 and the last marker is all you need.

Yeah I only do the warp marker on the first beat and make sure the ones are lined up at the end. I've always had great results. Better than people I know who use more warp markers and end up having to nudge the music while they are mixing.

I've heard the mention of 'warp markers' a lot in relation to Ableton, but I'm not entirely sure what they are (just figured out how to use Ableton this past week =)

Are warp markers set when you drag the bar at the top of the clip to match the waveform? This is the only method I've figured out (not sure what the 'warp from here, warp w/ straight x bpm, etc. are/do), and it seems to work fine for me.

I've only used Traktor's 'beat marker' for laying beat grids, and in that case, you're actually setting a marker to designate where to reference the BPM grid. The method I used above in Ableton did not change the clip BPM that was displayed.

Had a chance to put it to the test the other day with great results. I saved myself tons of time and I'm getting the results I want. I'm starting to come up with semi-decent mixes. With a bit more time and practice, I hope to come up with cleaner mixes. Thanks for all the tips.

when I have warped my tracks, I usually set markers where something drastic is changing in a track for example a breakdown, a vocal coming in, a bassline coming in etc. , not because it helps the beat stay in sinq but for my own visual help - so I can see exactly where something is going to change.... it helps me alot !

You guys that are putting 1 or 2 markers are nuts!

Have you tried layering 2 tunes? Or using any of the different launch modes? There's no way with 2 markers its staying accurate! And I'm using Live 6 now, tried the 2 markers thing, even with nicely done beatport tunes and it doesnt work.

SOMETIMES it sounds ok, but it is NOT accurate, it just isn't, listen with the metronome and it's bound to be off.

well actually it does work for the most part, some tunes drift, but i've been using this method; listening with the metronome, and i've been able to get some good mixes.

but it doesnt always work, some tunes, even if i get them lined up with the metronome, will mix better with some tracks than others.

Ya mate in fact I just realized it works for me almost all the time using two markers. warping is boring, and my tunes stay in sync for the most part with two so that's what I do :)

Alex
I admit warping is boring, but when I'm using 4-5 channels at once I just cannot rely on 2 warp markers, if each of those 4-5 tunes/samples were slightly out of sync it would start to sound like total ass-discharge.
