ok, i did a quick search, didnt come up with anything in this regard...
anyway, i've just gotten into warping/djing with live, and i wanted to know:
do you guys warp 4 bars at a time? it takes awhile to listen to a whole track just by going 4 bars at a time...do you guys even listen to the whole track?
maybe i'm doing it a different way then y'all are, but i just wanted to get some input from others. the way i do it is warp 4 bars - listen - go to the next 4 - listen - repeat till the song is over. heh, cheers:D |

| I almost always use only one warp marker. Unless I'm working on a mix with a live drum track. But for DJing purposes I've always only used one warp marker with great results. |

Well, I was a bout to quote you from that other thread...
I have no experience with djing with ableton, and only slight experience getting to know ableton, but:

Here's how to warp like a champ.
Load up track. Hit warp. Manually enter the correct BPM into the little box below warp. Set your first warp marker on the first beat you want to use. Scroll to the end. Line up the last beat towards the end of the song but do not create anymore green warp markers. Press save. Should take less than a minute. |
EDIT:
Oh ya, I think there was some more usefull information for you in this thread:

Zild pretty much nailed how I warp, although I do zoom in and check intervals of the song just to make sure.
And to find the bpm quickly, I usually warp the first bar and then use whatever it says in the box. |

LOL one warp marker.
I dont think so! May sound good to you but in truth it sounds like !
Dont warp every 4 bars that's silly, you warp every Id say 8 bars in the intro and every 8 bars in the outro.
During the meat of the track warp wherever the beat comes back in, like aftera buildup or if the track has a mini-pause or something.
Also, use the damn metronome! It'll always tell you where to place them properly because you'll hear your track sounding like total if it isnt going beep boop boop boop.
Once you've warped a few hundred tunes you wont need the metronome anymore, you'll know where they have to be placed and what not. |

who? lol, i dont understand now...one dude says to mark intro/outro/after breakdown, and you are saying just do 1 bar...
maybe you guys just have different methods but both work, im confused.
i've been warping more tracks since i started this thread, and i've noticed that i cant get away with just 1 bar...i find myself having to go through and make small adjustments cause the downbeats are off slightly.:conf: |

| i usually line up the marker to the first beat, check if the outro is fine, and if not, then add a second one at the end of the track and line it up to the last beat. then check if the middle is fine. I never use more than two markers unless the track is really old or a vinyl rip. |

I use a combination of everything everyone has said in here.
Beatport tracks/clean tracks. Usually I set it at the beginning and move down a few marks every 4 bars checking.
make minor adjustments the way through.
if its a vinyl rip i skip through the tracks and listen agianst a track i know is perfect and keep scrubbing.. once i see a part that has drift i warp from here and kick it back in line.
on real bad tracks a few green bars at most. |

Works fine on bought tracks, like I said, if you cant use 2 markers then the track drifts.
