| I usually put one at the 5th or 9th, then move the 1st one around (since it's usually going to be near some round number), then start putting additional ones at decent intervals....how many I wind up using per track just depends on the track...it might be anywhere from 3 or 4 for the whole track to one every 4 bars...usually closer to the former, though. I've only had to set a ton of them on a couple really bizarre tracks. |

Have you tried layering 2 tunes? Or using any of the different launch modes? There's no way with 2 markers its staying accurate! And I'm using Live 6 now, tried the 2 markers thing, even with nicely done beatport tunes and it doesnt work.
SOMETIMES it sounds ok, but it is NOT accurate, it just isn't, listen with the metronome and it's bound to be off. |
Nope far from it. I find the more warp markers you use the less accurate it actually becomes. And I learned this from a guy who teaches Ableton Live classes. I find the key is to manually enter the correct BPM yourself. Either tap the BPM out or use a different program to tell you the BPM and enter it yourself when warping. Another key is scrolling through the song until the end and making sure those markers (gray ones not green) are lined up all the way until the end. If you don't do that it will sound poor. I just don't think you're doing it properly. I use only one warp marker always have with excellent results. Assume whatever you want but your assumptions are wrong. |

No really, it works.
I think this video should show you the general idea of what we're on about.
When I'm warping my tracks I drag the first warp marker to the first beat of the track, then go to the end of the tune and drag the markers back in line. Then I check periodically back through the track to check they're still in sync, making adjustments when necessary. Takes no time at all and can be done on the fly (usually) without any problems. |

I used to do that, but it was too much of a hassle for importing tracks on-the-fly & it wasn't all that accurate. I still do it once in a while for really odd ones, so I have some idea what to go off of, since Ableton's 5,000-marker suggestion never comes close to being helpful. |

LOL ok buddy, first of all you must be using an older version of Ableton if your markers are green and not yellow, second you should never EVER have to touch the individual track's BPM cause that WILL cause problems when adjusting the master tempo, tapping or no tapping.
I dont care if your friend teaches Ableton Live classes, if you're learning how to use the program from someone else then you are never going to understand how it works cause you'll always rely on someone else to fix your ups! I always have perfect results and I use the metronome and plenty of warp markers, less on well layed out tracks.
Go on google and search this topic, ahahhaa, we'll see if it's your method that's the right one or mine :p And most of the results you'll see on Google are with older versions of Live also.
And don't tell me I'm not doing it properly, I can layer 6 tracks at once and they all sound perfectly, nay flawlessly beatmatched, I defy you to do the samething with your technique, record it (if you know how) and post it.
Noob, go back to turn tables.
Also I'll be even more immature and not reply to any more of your replies that will prolly be something along the lines of " you you're stupid Alex my 00br l337 ableton teacher friend knows EVERYTHING LAWL SO UR wr0ng!!!111 |

uh, im using live 6 and my markers are green...
and also on the ableton website they have a tutorial where they suggest tapping in the tempo...
from the information posted in this thread i've gathered enough knowledge to have success when warping. zilds method works, your method works...dont get so hostile. |

Click my sig and let me know if you hear any drift. download any of my ableton mixes...80% of my tracks only have 4 markers max. And usually the other two are just to help me remember loop points...
I dunno where you buy your tracks but you probably dont buy official releases if they drift that much.
Even Sasha only uses 1-3 markers.

Its painfully obvious who is in the wrong here... :p |

Sasha also only plays portions of tracks though :p Thus the less markers.
Also I am a child and I know everything, therefore I win. And there are 2 ways of doing it, ok fine, but there's also a wrong way of doing it and Zild's method is totally wank and not at all efficient! Using multiple programs to do something that can all be done the most accurately with one! Using a few extra warp markers and the built in metronome :p
Oops, I posted when I said I wouldnt anymore, !
I hate all of you, Im right you're all wrong, ananananan banananana lalalalalala I win! |
