Haven't heard a whole lot from him, and nothing since listening to Sexy Techno a few months back. Any sets I should be on the lookout for?

Guys, it's SVEN VATH.

When he came here in Montreal he took 11 pills and puked in the booth MANY MANY times.

And towards the end of the night he put on a CD with a sample and all it was was "SVEN VATH" "SVEN VATH" "SVEN VATH" over and over again in an increasingly sinister manner.

The guy is totally off his rocker! He doesnt need to mix perfectly every time, that isnt his claim to fame, he's a party animal.

Not exactly one to make super calculated decisions every time !

Also he's one of those old school nutters that's been spinning for 30 years that still lets his records play all the way through before slapping another one on, no transition, no beatmatch, no nuffink..

Im not the biggest Sven Vath fan, but the guy is a legend regardless, and his mixing has nothing to do with it :p

That was the night he played with Hawtin and they were both a mess, right? I heard about that one.

Yeah, he has his moments of shame, but I can forgive him.

He has a style all his own.

Indeed, the guy is a legend. He's doing his profession the way it was meant to be. Building a party WITH the audience, instead of just playing records in front of the audience. Then I care much less about some little mistakes.:D

And I thought I was a bad dancer.

I think Sven goes through phases. Sometimes he goes for the seamless mix, and other times he just lets the tracks play out. A lot of those old Harthouse/Eye Q tracks are epics that just need to hear in its entirety.

I remember seeing him at Graceland, Vancouver around 1995. I was looking into the deejay booth, and he always seemed to have a smoke in one hand and a cigarette in another, just having a good time.

Do I care about mixing? Yes. Do I care about the track selection? Yes. Do they always have to be perfect for me to have a good time? NO!

BTW, Dag is a far worse deejay than Sven Vaeth.

He was 100 times funnier at Aria here in Montreal, the guy literally drank a 24 + gobbled 10+ candies and played a monstrous 900 billion hour set until finally they had to kick him off, I forget why, probably had to clean the club for the next night.
