You're not paying for the pitch increment on the 800s, you're paying primarily for the upgraded body and feel of a full size, 1000-like, platter. Like it or not ,the 800/1000 platter is a heck of a lot better overall quality and feel than the 200's. Honestly, the .02 vs .05 is really not an issue at all. |

.02 is absolutely neccessary, if you don't think so then it's probably because you've not had the pleasure of using, extensively, such an accurate pitch.
And I said the 1000 over the 200 since he said he wanted vinyl emulation. I said the 1000 over the 800 because you get .02 pitch accuracy.
Why would someone want vinyl emulation? To have the hands on manipulation that was previously only achievable through vinyl. Same as any other emulation, people choose to use it on a more modern platform because it works! ;)
And to re-iterate: Denon owners are inbreds who enjoy a glass of their own piss first thing in the morning.
Proud to be Pio.

PS Mr Mystery, what did I say about fanboys? I said "Some Denon fanboy will reply and say otherwise". I'm pretty sure that if you had forgotten what I had typed you could have scrolled up and re-read it! Unless, that is, your sister was sucking you off and you were just about to go beyond the point of no return.......? |

anyone know why the 800s never got the 0.02 accuracy? for the price of them (in the uk anyway) you would expect them to be better than the 200s in terms of accuracy.

:eyespop: Jebus Christo! I think I'll just buy a Denon and watch my thread collapse!
Have Numark improved their CDX quality any? From what I read, the first round of CDXs were lacking in the reliability department. |

Hrm. I have 800's. All I really use the vinyl mode for is cuing, like rocking a vinyl back and forth over a beat (even though I've never really done that with real vinyl).
As for the 0.05% pitch resolution, I don't think my skill in beatmatching is high enough to notice the difference between 0.02% and 0.05%, but I can certainly understand it from a mathematical point of view (disclaimer: I'm an engineer [or will be soon]).
Perhaps someone can find some schematics for the 800's and see if there's a way to change the pitch resolution? =P With a high level of abstraction, it'd probably just be a matter of the A/D conversion resolution and the clock signal for the CD player. Haven't really looked into it, but I suppose I could. =)
One thing not mentioned is most clubs will have Pioneers, which is something to consider when deciding. Since most clubs will probably have the 1000, the 800 fits well as the 'baby brother', with many of the same controls. Of course, it's not a bad idea to learn how to use stutter cue and pitchbend buttons (or correction via pitch fader like Vinyl =P). I should do that sometime. |

...especially when even the 200 has the same resolution as the 1000. |
Also has a plastic jar lid as a platter...
I dont get why everyone is obsessed with vinyl emulation in CD players. Its a CD player ffs...different system, use it differently. I dont expect to use technics in CDJ mode when I'm playing wax... |

HEY, I'm a Denon owner :whip:
Although I do enjoy a cup of my own piss in the morning :D
As for the whole pitch resolution thing, IMO using .05% increments is really easy, its just .02% is even easier, when using my friends CDJs I mainly end up using them on .05%.
When I was first getting to know CDJs, I thought I would have to have .02%, that anything else would just drift too much, but really, its not bad at all with .05%, .1% isn't all that bad either. |

I like doing spin backs on my 1000s.
Just a little extra point...........

You talked about fanboys right there in that exact line you just quoted yourself. What, did you forget it already? Maybe you should re-read your post.
I just find it highly ironic you dismiss fanboys of other brands when you're clearly a massive Pio fanboy. Pot, kettle and all that. |

And to me. I brought this up on the Pioneer forum, I didn't expect to get a decent/honest response. However I think I know why they did it.
If they make the 800 .02 then they're going to sell less 200s, since there isn't a huge amount (approx £170) between the 2. The way i see it they've cornered the market right through the price range.
It's smart business sense.
I recently advised a mate who was set on buying the 800 to buy the 200, purely because of the pitch accuracy. I think it's THE most important feature. Although I do appreciate it's just my opinion.
