anyone know why the 800s never got the 0.02 accuracy? for the price of them (in the uk anyway) you would expect them to be better than the 200s in terms of accuracy.

:haha:

well the 200's came out after the 800

And to me. I brought this up on the Pioneer forum, I didn't expect to get a decent/honest response. However I think I know why they did it.

If they make the 800 .02 then they're going to sell less 200s, since there isn't a huge amount (approx £170) between the 2. The way i see it they've cornered the market right through the price range.

It's smart business sense.

I recently advised a mate who was set on buying the 800 to buy the 200, purely because of the pitch accuracy. I think it's THE most important feature. Although I do appreciate it's just my opinion.

800s are fine for all intents and purposes, I have one right now with my two 1000mk2 and it holds its own against them fine. I'd get the 800 because of the larger platter which allows for easier adjusting. The 200 is a great little player but the platter is a joke. I've got Sasha's Aria Montreal set from 2004 which was mixed on 3x CDJ-800 and his beatmatching is pretty much impeccable the whole way through, not to mention that he uses the loop feature alot.

Who gives a about a .03 pitch resolution difference. You won't even notice it. If you're a good DJ, you can mix regardless.

I own the Pioneer CDJ800's and have played on the Denon's. They're both good options, they both have their ups and downs, and at the end of the day, I chose the Pioneer. Why? Cuz they're industry standard, they have a proven track record, they're solid, and I love them. If I was to buy new CDJs right now, I would get the CDJ1000 MK3. Those kick ass.

If you really want to get into the digital world and you want true vinyl emulation like you're saying, do your self a favor and with the money you're going to spend on one CDJ, buy SERATO!!!! That's TRUE Vinyl emulation. I own it and I love it! What i love about it too is that I can use it with either CDJ's or Turntables. I use it every weekend at different gigs all over the place and has yet to fail me. It's so damn solid the case is made out of metal. Another thing to consider is how many clubs are INSTALLING SERATO!!! That means in the future all you have to do is show up with your lappy or iPod and BAM! You're on! I played at two clubs with SSL installed already - Sevilla's in Long Beach and Xalos in Orange County.

Ableton & Serato are the future.

That's just my two cents, but than again, why should you listen to me? At the end, get what you feel more comfortable with.

Seriously. If you can't mix on .1 resolution you just can't mix at all.

Go over to the Serato forums (scratchlive.net) and ask. Many SSL users there have purchased SSL in the States and imported into the UK. They might be able to give you better feedback.
