if so...then you can understand why people would do k...except that k is a *far* more intense high...with virutally zero come down, zero hangover, zero negative side effects (with moderate use).

the issue is it's a controlled substance, isn't widely used like alcohol, pot and e, and is snorted (increasing the societal taboo of using it).

if people would logically examine drug and alcohol use...they'd see that blowing through a vial of k in a night is far less harmful than getting *wasted* on booze.

but it's impossible to convince some people of that, because they can't look past what society deems to be "ok".

meh.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

last time I got drunk was my 22nd birthday a year ago, and I don't enjoy that all so neither of this applies to me, and no to pot and e :)

oh and it has nothing to do with how society sees things, there are millions of ppl who have chronic alcohol problems and they could care less about what societies say

what it boils down for me personally - i have no interest in this fake imaginary enhancements, I enjoy life and partying in my most natural state, sober.

honestly, I completely respect your position...I have friends who feel the same way and will have a couple of drinks, at the most, and that's it...I didn't mean to sound argumentative or critical of you at all.

I'm a bit advocate of 'to each their own' so long as they affect no one but themselves...and that includes not looking down upon people who DO choose to indulge.

I only wish that people (in general, not you) would logically examine their positions instead of blinding following what society tells them is 'ok' (and not just with regard to drug use, but in general).

Ummm....
First things first: I have not lost my ability to enjoy things soberly. In fact, I am usually sober when I go out. I can count on one hand the amount of times I have done e.

Another thing: I don't really like to talk about my drug habit because I have always been afraid that my "friends" would look at me differently and judge me because of that. Thanks for backing up my theory.

I have NOTHING against partying sober. In fact, I used to be reeeeeally against drugs. After trying drugs, and actually experiencing being high, I had such a better understanding about what my friends who do drugs were talking about. It is extremely ignorant for someone who is against drugs to judge a drug user.

to each their own indeed :)

what i personally don't like hearing/reading is the easiness with which heavier substances are indulged and praised

oh well, when i try it all, i'll come back to this discussion, which means it's probably never going to happen:)

Since you're a shopaholic maybe this will help. You know that rush you feel when you find that amazing top you've been looking for. It just makes you look hot and feel oh so wonderful, and then when you go pay for it you find out its on sale. That feeling you get. You know the warm fuzzy, all happy feeling that you now have a hot top to wear out to a club and you got a deal on it. Well take that feeling and multiply it by 100, ..., no wait multiply it by 1683 (probably more accurate, unless you are total sketchbags like us then the 100 is correct) thats what good drugs can do for you.

well if you really think those "friends" are not friends, you've got a long way to go
if you can't take a friend being critical and not supporting your personal drug use, maybe you should have another look at your morals

You say that with an undertone of scorn for those that DO ingest drugs. Explain what exactly there is to be proud of?
Points stating that you enjoy yourself on the same level as people who do drugs are moot points, as there is no way a drug experience can relate to a sober experience. Not to say one is greater than the other, so don't jump on that, they're just different.

Now as for your request of enlightenment, again, something very moot and not worth discussing. Attempt to describe the colour 'red' to a person blind from birth...

what to be proud of? that I don't anything else apart from my own senses and great company and/or great music to enjoy my nights out

if ppl feel proud of how they can enhance their experiences and have tons of fun can do whatever they want, I'm not trying to put my foot down and advocate anyone and everyone to be like me, they have their own head on their shoulders and decide for themselves... if I sound like I'm scorning, well that's just me... I'm a n00b in that sense, color-blind like you said

i did say IMO, so they entitles me to my opinion no? on the other hand if you will try to tell me that it's bad that I've never wanted to try anything but alcohol, then I'm fully entitled to tell you to stfu, right?

the ongoing trend of talking about pro's of drug use on TA is really sending a wrong message to anyone who happens to be like me but having no encounters with people who do them or who is very fresh to this whole scene... just coming back to that poll someone started, some 16 year old kid sees that half the people did 200+ pills, does 5 pills on his first night not knowing what's in them, not being careful, and ends up dead.

Maybe you aren't comprehending what I said. I did not ever ask for a friend to support my drug use. Nor have I ever considered not being friends with people who are against drugs. I can handle criticism, and will always listen to my friend's opinions. However, in the long run, it is *my* personal choice.

All that I stated was that I don't like when people like you get in and say I am a bad person just because I do drugs once in a while. I just think that you are being very ignorant. And it is in a way hypocritical for you to say that I have no morals. I know the difference between right and wrong. Nobody is perfect, and that includes you. I am sure that you have made some decisions in your lifetime that other people did not agree with. If we stopped being friends with the people who did "bad" things, we would all be enemies.

I would not ever tell you to do drugs. You have a good time without them, and that is awesome. Also, you have to understand that there is a large difference between people who pop a pill once every month or two, and people who RELY on drugs every single time they go out (or stay in) to make themselves feel good.

fair enough, you don't ask for support, don't expect someone to support it

woah, where did me saying you are bad came from? *flips though the previous page* if you feel like implied that, I'm sorry, I just don't approve of it... i'm no hypocrite, i'd be a hypocrite if you'd known for the fact that I do drugs but say something different here, please get your definitions right next time

you don't have to feel like you can't tell me to do them or not to do them, if you do, or if anyone does, I just say "no thanks"
the rest of what I think I told Dima, and I don't really feel like repating myself

Haha, nice to see some flame wars on here, but you guys all try too hard to shoot for consensus instead of the good old-fashioned smackdown. Le'sigh.

Personally, I'm of the mind that recreational drug use is perfectly fine, but those who have to kiss and tell usually have an underlying problem. And I'm not talking about the occasional off-the-cuff discussion, we've all had those; I'm talking about the ones who chime in every single time the subject of drugs comes up with incredibly helpful advice about how awesome they are, usually peppered with a half-baked disclaimer about using them safely and in moderation without any specific elaboration on what "safe" or "moderate" actually is (mainly because they're using the terms on an entirely subjective basis, using their own personal habits as the measuring stick).

Again, those cheering this WaPo article as a moral victory for recreational drug users are completely missing the point - that ketamine was used medically long before it was ever used recreationally and has never been illegal like meth or cocaine. And that the research shows it to be helpful in small doses for medical use, not in larger doses for recreational use. And that the numbnut who wrote the WaPo article clearly has an axe to grind and should probably be sticking to articles about cargo pants and purses instead of important medical research.
