This is what I'm getting at. I see no legitimate reason for anyone who DOES partake in drugs to be proud of that fact. It is a base pride, but at the same time the reverse position of that same argument stands the same.
There is nothing n00bish in your stance. You took the time to explain it fully, and that's something I respect.

lol, I comletely agree. Going to the above point again, it is supid to be proud of drug use, and in that same extension it is just as stupid to label anyone 'bad' that they've never done it. I just think that 'stfu' is not the most intelligent way to explain your position to someone, and judging from the other posts that I've read from you, you've done more than your fair share to show that you do not in fact lack in any intelect, that's all that I was getting at :)

This, actually, is a good point.
But, many posts on this forum are made with a strong content of sarcasm and humour, and its easy to misinterpret posts from that context as 'pro-drug' use. |

Personally, I'm of the mind that recreational drug use is perfectly fine, but those who have to kiss and tell usually have an underlying problem. And I'm not talking about the occasional off-the-cuff discussion, we've all had those; I'm talking about the ones who chime in every single time the subject of drugs comes up with incredibly helpful advice about how awesome they are, usually peppered with a half-baked disclaimer about using them safely and in moderation without any specific elaboration on what "safe" or "moderate" actually is (mainly because they're using the terms on an entirely subjective basis, using their own personal habits as the measuring stick).
Again, those cheering this WaPo article as a moral victory for recreational drug users are completely missing the point - that ketamine was used medically long before it was ever used recreationally and has never been illegal like meth or cocaine. And that the research shows it to be helpful in small doses for medical use, not in larger doses for recreational use. And that the numbnut who wrote the WaPo article clearly has an axe to grind and should probably be sticking to articles about cargo pants and purses instead of important medical research. |
lol...I don't think the point of the article was not to sing the praises of ketamine though...maybe you're being a bit harsh :D
clearly (to me) it's a lighter discussion on a potentially exciting new angle in treating major depression...via a breakthrough discovery that targeting a different area of the brain, in the way that ketamine does, could be an effective solution for those who don't respond well to the current crop of available medications.
It's not that ketamine will be the new wonder drug...but that studying it's effects will lead to the development of new ones. |

someone like fonkee who says no is on one polar end, someone who does 10pills a weekend is on the other polar end. than there are people in between like me who have taken them (now sober) and you (recreational). taking drugs is not completely immoral, but having done them in the past, i've realized it's not something for me, as i lose my ability to enjoy music naturally.
someone like fonkee, i respect for being strong enough to say no to ppl who offer her drugs.
but at the same time, i don't think my life would ever be complete if i hadn't experienced my first ecstasy trip. |
