| we would be saying the exact same thing if it were dogs/cats we were eating and having pigs n cows in our backyards instead..It's what they represent not what value their life actually has thats important. |

Who are we to determine what they represent?
Is it wrong for us then to be appaled when a bear eats a human, and then kill the bear because he is dangeous to our species? Why shouldn't we just say "oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles". Most animals i.e. pigs, cows and chickens, can't do anything about the fact that we raise them as food and kill them to eat.
Also, take the whole thread awhile back about the Chinese people eating dogs. Why does it seem inhumane to the North American culture? They probably think the same thing of the meat that we eat. |

Actually we didn't talk about that. It is definatly an interesting point though. The standard answer would be that cats and dogs are domesticated animals in North America. But who's to say that I can't raise a pig in my backyard? Would that mean that my pig now has rights? |

LOL!!!!!...Its not like people their strictly eat dogs and rats and think western society is wack for eating beef and pork..They eat pork and beef to...But enough of all this who gives us the right. We have the power and we use this power to do whatever it takes for us to survive. thats what it all comes down to, if we ran out of chickens and cows im 200% that we'l all resort to eating cats/dogs/any meat that were not used to eating. |
