I don't have any statistics on this, but it's pretty impossible to deny that many recent (past one hundred years) world-changing inventions and scientists have either been American in origin or supported by American funds and university system. |
America being the "Brain-Drain" would probably account for more of this. It also depends on what area you are talking about. Economics would probably be india, engineering would be Germany, suicide technology would be Middle east, etc... |

Not really. We have quite a few "home-grown" people who accomplished important things as well. Computing would be nowhere near the level it is today if it weren't for American universities, inventors, and businesses.
Of course, a lot of these dudes were either Jewish immigrants (immigrated as children) or the sons (born in America) of Jewish immigrants, so I guess you could maybe still argue the "brain drain" thing.

This thread is funny. But nothing is funny if it does not have some semblance of truth to it, somewhere. On behalf of the United States of Bush-wah, I formally apologize to the rest of the world for:
- Paris Hilton
- Stealing reality television (please, take it back)
- The southern United States
- Outspoken christian evangelists
- Refusing to use the metric system
- Leaving out the letter 'u' in so many pertinent words
- Paris Hilton
- Replacing the letter 's' with the letter 'z' in so many pertinent words
- Apologizing when we really didn't do anything that other cultures have not done, themselves
I'm sure there's a lot of other things, but I can't be arsed to list them because I'm just a lazy American dip who deserves life far less than the enlightened scholars that every other country in the world produces by the boatload. |

haha...yayyy for us yankees ;)
a lot of the stereotypes describing america are true, but there are also a lot of them that aren't. just because our government is ed and there are certain people (ahem, celebrities) that steal most of the negative attention for our country, there are also a lot of down to earth, intelligent, good people that live here. you can't generalize a country that has millions of different people in it. |

There are a minority of scholars who dispute any historicity of Jesus. |
