PURE done for good? (pg. 5)

Hi my name is Alex, first time post on this forum.
I'd just like to say that every pure event that i have attended in the past two or so years have been some of the fondest memories and greatest times. The talent that i was able to see here in chicago was incredible. It is truly one of the main reason why i have become so invovled in the music and the scene. To hear this happen is a shame. Its is awful that at least 3 men due to their greed have tarnished the Chicago scene. I understand many of its employees were not invoved and hopefully they continue to contribute themselves. Hopefully these events do not affect Chicago nightlife as Jen Boyles of NBC and many of you on this forum have stated. I always rep Chi-town, it is the greatest city in the U.S. if not the world :). Considering that these will be the last months of Pure, i believe we should all just get buck nasty! FTW! See youz at SVD!!!

| Yea...agreed. I suppose I do owe an apology to some of the members of this board. Granted it is somewhat ridiculous for a 'kid' with little experience to make such accusations, but my words were directed at those who committed the crime (so far we know of three). Honestly, it doesn't take much for one to point out the illegitimacies of the company, and standing defiant or in defense is not going to 'ease to guilt'(that is if you were involved). Of course Pure provided myself and everyone else with memorable experiences, and I cannot be more thankful. However, this is immensely inexcusable. Although, I am happy to hear that someone has taken hold of the 'reigns' and will spearhead the company for the remaining year...I suppose much is still unknown and much has yet to be revealed. Again, apologies to those that I have offended. |

there are plenty of promoters in this city that throw quality events. You spin for one of them! |

all i have to say.. whoa!!!!
im am still in disbelieve.. what happend
alot of people are hurt by this.. employees.. & investors in the Pure Company.. Especially, NYE/ATB party that Pure still owes... promoters like me that work hard & put up alot of cash so the show can go on.. I am so suprise a big company can come & go overnight..
I know the scene will be thier.. it will be good to see new promoters to create something differnt for the city of chicago.. we were seeeing the same ol'stuff..
I hope things will get back to normal.. & the friends & family that work & been part of the pure family.. are finacial stable.. & on their feets.. Alot of people on this board are part of the Trance/Nightlife community.. & some know how much work/finacial needs to get a big show goin... they did what they had to do to survive.. greed i dont think they were.. they were just trying to build an empire by themselves.. & Rome does fall eventually..
good luck & the future will tell, |

| its a shame to hear about this but i think the scene will survive and things will move on. on second thought, the media never blows things out of proportion so i guess chicago nightlife will shrivel up and die. |

| The show goes on, folks. There are records still left to play in the bag. And, the decks will continue to spin. The law is the law. And, those allegedly involved will be punished if proven guilty. Maybe these events will bring about better business, events, and music. I believe, no matter what happens, Chicago's promoters and Djs will continue to bring us the very best in electronic dance music entertainment. |

Forgery and tax evasion are two very serious crimes. What sucks the most is that the relationships between clubs and promoters will be strained throughout the entire midwest. Now every promoter's integrity is going to be questioned, and club owner's demands are going to intensify. Believe me, this is more bad than good in the short term. In the long term, we'll see how the Chicago scene will reconduct itself. The city basically has a blank slate right now. |
darin im going to try and say this as respectfully as possible. please dont talk out of your ass when it comes to serious matters like this.
1. that is not what they were charged with. they were charged with grand theft. please dont contribute to the rumour mill
2. neither you nor i nor anyone else who posts regularly on this board (with the exception of maybe haider@soundbar) know enough or have enough experience with dealing with high budget electronic music events and the A list dj agencies to make such negative assumptions about the dance scene in chicago that you did. you simply cannot say that it is a blank slate right now, nor can you say this will affect any other promoter. from what ive seen so far no clubs have skipped a beat and all scheduled events are still going to go on as planned. |

Does this mean that the time for low-budget, D-List DJ's such as myself has finally come?!?

Their is, but NOT LIKE PUREFUTURE. 3-Men--> Lead that Company...you best believe every single cent that is invested in bank will probably be seized by Government. Company looks like its done, All of Chicago will know about this and the "employees including Dj's" might not have best reputation when joining another Company or booking venue. It's like working for Target and they fire you because you knew someone stoled something. Trying to find another job after that (good-luck) Not saying anyone employees knew...but... that doesn't matter.
As far as planning goes---for future events I don't think much is going to happen. After future dates for dj's are done (so is pure)
I won't say from who I heard, but thru e-mail i was told by a FORMER EMPLOYEE that PURE is SHADDY without a doubt and screwed (this person over) a couple times.
Best of luck to all of you in the coming months.
