Nobody wants to go out in Chelsea anymore.

i wonder when club owners are going to realize that changing formats to hip hop does nothing but begin the ending of the club. Rap brings degenerates and crime. I don't think many (if any) clubs survive that transition.

hopefully when the police pressure ends 'spirit' will reopen under a better name and bring the trance back. If that happened i would careless about crobar. But as of now crobar is the normal trance spot so i have nostalgia for the place. I just hope the big trance nights doesn't end up at pacha.

Well Pacha is good, but its too small and it gets very hot inside.

Well not so much the franchise and branding of Crobar but the people who run the door I don't like. I don't like the fact that the clubs surrounding also get as much attention, so much attention that its become an area to be seen. I'm not a scene-type of person, I don't enjoy big crowds of pretty fake people. I don't enjoy 16yr old girls with excessive make up, backless shirts, and their thongs showing. I don't scream for attention like that and my view on the current situation is thats exactly what that area and the clubs surrounding it are promoting. Thats not NYC, thats not the EDM type of environment that I enjoy and I'm allowed that opinion, even if its to begrudge a specific venue.

i do feel for you with the bad situation that you had to put up with that one time at Crobar, that sucks... but with that being said, and with all due respect, i dont see you at the Shelter or Sullivan parties or other similar spots/venues that have been hosting very quality parties with very few little kids and no pretension, with overall, a great vibe... not saying you have to prove yourself to me, not at all, i apologize if it comes off that way, but i think youre complaint about that area/scene is just a facade of a general jadedness that a lot of people on this board have fallen into regarding THE WHOLE scene... there are plenty of low-key EDM parties at underground smaller venues, with different amazing DJs so when i hear someone complaining, i have to call them out on that.... no offense intended, just giving my 2 cents!

none taken and i've been to most if not all of those so-called u-ground venues. to a certain extent that jadedness you speak of is true, it's called growing up lol, because frankly there isn't much out there in my eyes. I stopped the drugs thing (yes i put the white away) and i could careless about party crowds. My attention has definitely switched from rockstar weekends to active-outdoor-athletic lifestyles. I appreciate 8AM saturday mornings, I appreciate them more at 1pm when it feels like 5pm to me. I like my friday nights at home, these likes, the gratification I receive from them, can not be fulfilled by a night out at a party or to hear a DJ play.

and yes i've held the venue up on that sole experience I had because in similar light, we hold venues/dj's up to a certain light on that one night of greatness, it's similar in that regards so there shouldn't be any give-crobar-a-second-chance in my opinion. i know where this conversation is headed, i've had it many times on these very boards and with many of the great friends i've made here, but i highly doubt there will be a time and place that will forever rekindle the type of experience that i had during my era -- it's just fact.

I've held these words true - 'you know when you're having fun and when you're just out chilling' i see all these nights out with all these dj's coming in pvd this, svd that, g&d, omgwtfbbq, wmc, etc...all of these are just out chilling to me and rarely do i ever say yo i'm having FUN...there's a difference between having fun and chilling out in my eyes.

ooh HERES THE ORIGINAL THREAD puhahahhah

anyway...yeah i was thinking that exactly

MORE ROOM FOR VIP TO WANDER AROUND...

nothing has changed. ugh don't go.

and 10,000 sq feet of column-free space?

well MY QUESTION IS:
how large was Crobar's MAIN dance floor?

Will Studio's main floor be substantially larger than Crobars? Will the sound system be state-of-the-art?

Inquiring minds wanna know!

:tongue2

jerZ07002
that's exactly what people on this board want to hear, more room for people not like us. off. nightlife needs to move in the other direction.

I hope the changes that they have made are better than their name change....what a stupid generic name!!

In any case I am curious as to see the changes. I am all for a club that we may like....I am not getting pessimistic until I see it.
