Scooter, Prodigy...
Thats back in 1994/95 |
Raversurge introduced me to it in 9th grade of high school - 7-8 years ago. We listened to Scooter and these corny "hard trance" compilations with stuff like PPK - Resurrection on them. Serge, Yan, and I would around with glowsticks in the schoolyard or in the woods behind my house... well I'd around, Serge was very good at it. Listen to the in my room and stuff.. good times good times |

First song:
Daft Punk - Da Funk.
At a high school house party. It came out of nowhere. Sandwiched between garbage hip-hop and "Under the Table and Dreaming" era Dave Matthews Band songs, that saw-tooth bassline stopped the party for just a minute. Everyone else thought it was weird. I thought it was amazing. |

Darude - Sandstorm
Listened to a lot of Aphex Twin over the next couple of years. I really got into it when I followed some friends to a PvD show in Cleveland in Nov. 2003. There I heard Crush for the first time and I was hooked. |

Back in 97, it was either:

My dad was into Joy Division/New Order, Depeche Mode, Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, etc. so that had a lot of influence.
I would have to say that Hallellujah by the Mondays turned me to it completely, Oakenfold remixed it at the beginning of his career in 1991, I think. It was probably the last Factory release. |

picked up Robert Miles' "Dreamland" album when his single "Children" was all over the radio...not long after i picked up PvD's "Seven Ways" at the recommendation of a sales clerk lol..
*edit - oddly enough i never listened to any edm under the influence of anything until college...and then the track that rekindled the flame was Orbital - Halcyon and On and On.. |
