I didn't feel justified replying at first, cause I'm such a late bloomer, but whatever. I've always loved dancing and pop music, but up until 5 years ago it was mostly all about rock and metal for me. I saw Tiesto at Area 2 in 2002, and just kinda stood there while The Riddle and our other friends were loving it. Didn't write it off, but didn't really get it. Then we started going out in NYC. PVD and especially Tiesto at Roxy in 2003 were the turning point for me. And I remember realizing how obsessed I was when I started playing, playing and replaying certain moments in the sets I had downloaded from TA (Lawrence Fishburne saying "Destiny" at 41:23 of the John 00 set, that great moment in the song Timeless exactly 54:18 into PVD's live at Energy). Over and over and over. Hooked.

I cant really say when it started, but I was into the Chemical Brothers when "block rocking beats" came out. At the same time I liked Underworld and the "pearl's girl" song at the time b/c of the movie 'the saint'. All my life i have been into new wave so this was just the 'new' new wave at the time for me, lol.
I think I really started to get more into it when I was backpacking around Europe with a friend in 2000. We just arrived in Germany and we had a room with a TV and MTV after 5 weeks. So i am watching this one video by Dr. Motte and Westbam that was the theme song from love parade 2000 and we arrived right after love parade finished that year. i was cd shopping that trip and i got a few cds in london before we returned to the US. one was a mix and the other was a Talla2xlc mix. I listened to them a bit.
Fastforward a few months and i was having a hard time with a breakup. i couldnt listen to music with a lot of words in it, so i would only listen to EDM. I heard Pvd's 'we are alive' and I was hooked.

the first track that got me into EDM was Daft Punk - Around The World
then years later i got into oakey and pvd and my love for EDM keeps on growing everyday
