This is what I was talking about when I said that people try to put others in nice little boxes - because it's easier to deal with a world that is so compartmentalized.

i come off as an because i tell them what they need to hear. not going around telling people they are fat or anything of that nature.

Look, I am not calling you an because I don't know you at all, but have you ever considered that people might think you are an NOT because you tell the blaring truth, but because you try to force your sense of 'what they need to hear' down their throats? Nobody ever got in trouble for shutting the up once in a while.

Actually it's called hypothyroidism. And some people ARE genetically predisposed to have larger body types.

and this makes you predisposed to be obese?
MrJiveBoJingles
Leptin regulates hunger. Some people have abnormal levels of this and will continue to feel hungry until they eat enough to become overweight. This can also be affected by diet, exercise, and lots of other stuff, but for whatever evolutionary reason some people just tend to feel a lot hungrier than others, ceteris paribus. It isn't quite as easy as "have some self-control," although that can certainly be part of the problem, too.

Fat countries, especially America, are in a rather paradoxical situation: extremely large portions and "pigging out" are something of a national pastime, but there are also extremely exacting standards for what is popularly considered beautiful.

That's not even what I'm talking about. I specifically said I was only talking about people who DIDN'T have a "natural" health issue.

What you're talking about is a whole other discussion.
MrJiveBoJingles
"Health issues" are a continuum. Some people will have naturally really poor regulation of insulin, leptin, and other stuff, others will have it not so good, others will be average, others will be excellent. It's hard to put physiology in strict categories.
MrJiveBoJingles
There's also the chicken-egg problem of whether a person has "health issues" because of just poor "self-control" or some pre-existing medical problem or both.

Again, that's NOT what I'm talking about.

You people can be really ing dense at times. You're making this way more complicated than need be. All I'm doing is hating on fat s who gorge themselves to obesity. Now either you're with me or against me, and if you're against me you can GTFO.
MrJiveBoJingles
"Fat s who gorge themselves to obesity" isn't an easy set to define or recognize in the real world.

"Density" includes an insistence on using black and white categories for gray subjects. :p

with.

aka those who are fat solely due to sloth & over-indulgence, at the cost of their own health & well-being, let alone any sliver of pride they might have--not those with Thyroid disease.
