There's some book I heard about a while back that some guy wrote...all about all the reasons why Bush is not a Conservative. I never could find it, and if anybody happens to remember it, I'd appreciate it.
But yes, Vlad is spot-on. The mere fact that he's had a 30% approval rating should tell you this. Liberals do not make up 70% of the US population. |

i do not care for giuliani. it will just be the same old with him.
what is the problem with focusing on women's lib or gay rights? should that just go to the back burner and keep america going backwards still??? b/c that seems not to be working at the moment. |

He did this by ruling with a conservative, iron-fist. By forcing his views on others to make it so. He forced policy on the city without regard to the personal rights of those who lived in it. Sure it worked out in the end, but do I feel safe having the country ruled by yet another conservative tolitarian?
No I don't. |
We need someone to rule with an iron fist, you need someone that isnt gonna take from the inside corporates nor from foreign countries
quote: | I'm not a die-hard Hillary supporter, either. But let's face the reality that the current tactic (in regards to world diplomacy) isn't working either. Our world (outside our own borders) is a far more dangerous place than it was 5 years ago. Even our "allies" are beginning to lower thier heads in shame. Countries like Iran and N. Korea give us the big "F-You" when we confront them about nuclear weapons. Our government then cowers down like some schoolyard bully. |
People are giving us the big F-you because no one is taking us seriously anymore. First we go to Afghanastan to fight terror, than we completely abandon what we know about the terror training camps there and focus on Iraq and a bunch of suspicion. Like I said before we could have finished this "war" in under a month, which would have saved us thousands of american lives and a load of money.
quote: | I think it's time that we start focusing on internal items like gay and minority rights. It's about time that we focus on our homeland economy rather than homeland security. Our government spends Billions of dollars more on a war that we've already won. Meanwhile, within our own borders, millions of our own citizens' homes are destroyed (yet again) by another natural disaster. |
I agree that we need to fix our economy, but focusing on gay rights and a bunch of other crap needs to be set back because its just not important right now. Whats the point of doing all this stuff if we leave ourselves open for attack? You abandon the middle east all together and we die, we wont live to see the economy make it back, you wont see this gay rights crap, none of it.
quote: | Who will I vote for? Well that depends on who comes correct with the issues that affect me. Somebody who feels that our schools need a drastic makeover. Somebody who can recognize that $7.00 an hour isn't enough to live off of. Somebody who's not afraid to take a stand against the big companies who hire illegal immigrants. Somebody who will truly stand up for the right of the American citizen. This is who will get my vote. |
Real conservatives are against illegal immigrants. On the other hand, alot of companies now just outsource to other countries, which I feel is a complete jacking of America because those jobs could really take alot of people off of unemployment, or give people better jobs. What I think the govt should do is tax American companies that outsource to make up for saving so much money on having to pay a real wage.
quote: | I'm sorry, but I don't see Guilliani making the grade on this. I feel he's gonna be another "yes man" to the government machine. I feel he's gonna do like the current leader and do as he pleases when he wants to, despite the interests of the American public. |
Giuliani wont be another puppet, he does what he wants, but hes aliiiiiiiiiittle smarter than Bush and will do what is in the best interests of the country as a whole. |

We don't need any more "poltics of fear". But this is how Guilliani runs his city and it's how he'll run the country. His record shows that. How can you say that the enforcement of our personal rights aren't "important" right now? Are you insinuating that we should just be drones to the lackeys in the White House just because it makes our country "safer"? This is complete BS!!! An iron-fist is not what this country needs. It's what places like Iraq needed. But we ran all over that like the Spanish Inquisition.
I'm sorry, but what this country DOESN"T NEED is another tolitarian in control. |

What I meant by iron-fist is that is how we should do our foreign policy/policing and Giuliani is perfect for it, especially fixing this crap in the Middle East.
My rights? My rights arent being violated, no ones rights (honestly) are being violated. Just because you dont have something written down on paper doesnt mean that you are segregated from the unalienable rights that we are all given when we become citizens. Just because gays cant technically legally marry each other, this is called violation of rights? that , that is just stupidity. And you people want to cry about the Patriot Act? Do you have something to hide? Are you building bombs? I doubt it, so you have NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. How many times have you talked about the government over internet chat, how many times have people said that they would want to blow up some government building? Has the FBI ever taken down their door without proper search and seizure papers? NO. The only thing worth fixing here is the discrepency between male and female wages, if my memory serves me right, for ever $1 a male makes, a female makes $0.70. If they are doing the same job, they should get paid the same wage, end of story. |

giuliani is a disgrace. a mediocre mayor with a major authoritarian streak who was fortunate enough to govern during a time of national crime reduction and who has shamelessly turned 9/11 into a personal piggybank for his consulting firm -- and who is now trying to ride his self-made myth into the white house.
like the current goons in power, rudy never met a corporate deal he didn't like or a piece of socially just legislation he wouldn't veto.
he's like bush, except he roots for the yankees and is (as of today) less beholden to religious freaks -- his repeated adulterous relationships and his first marriage to a close cousin might have something to do with his agnosticism... |

Republican, republican, republican... your over use of this word shows how limited you are. If you ask a republican what they think, most will tell you that they dont exactly agree with what Bush is doing. |
so where were they when the war first started? it's still a republican-pushed policy that hasn't worked.
there're much better options than rudy on that side of the aisle. whomever has better ideas, i will vote for them, regardless of their affiliation. |

I think everyone is in agreement that the Presidency lost its prestige... personally I think it all went downhill after the 50's. |
