I deliberatly told my boyfriend not to do anything for VD. If he wants to show me he loves me, I want him to do it because he wants to, not because he feels he has to. VD is just a hallmark holiday that encourages people to participate (aka makes people feel obligated to participate,) in a mostly meaningless gesture. Why would you want someone to do something for you when you know that they only did it because it's what "they are supposed to do", on that day?
It means 903475948756938745 times more to me when someone does something sweet for me at the most random, unexpected time. :D
My boyfriend brought me flowers a month ago... I asked him what it was for, and he said "because they reminded me of you, and you deserve them". I valued that far more than I would value flowers given to me on VD. |
