yeah, that's exactly what it's like...
the one that aired was generally silly and innocuous. the motor oil and wrench versions are quite offensive with the implication that kissing a man is an act so heinous that it would require either guzzling poison or reacting violently...
if america were more tolerant toward gays it would be easier to laugh at the whole thing, but when anti-gay violence and homophobia are commonplace it's not so funny. |
you're gay aren't you:p |

On the other hand, one could view it as two men simply being grossed out by kissing each other that they have to go to stereotypical extremes to validate each others heterosexuality. I still thought it was funny and thought the commercial was poking fun at straight people. :/
I guess where I live being gay is pretty standard, but if this were aired in rural America where there's a lot of insecure 17 year olds barely sustaining their own self-esteem, I can understand how the commercial would do more damage to them. |

| Exactly, this ad isn't making fun of homosexuals, it's making fun of the straight guys that fear homosexuality. :p |

| Very interesting. I think regular rednecks would be most offended at having all this damn homosexuality forced down their throats. |

| Haha, when I saw that commercial, the first thought that came to my mind was oversensitive gays becoming offended by the depiciton of two men kissing as gross. in ay, the world is becoming too predictable now. |

| I thought that the commercial was making fun of homophobes, who of course are idiots and deserve to be made fun of. All in the interpretation, I suppose. |

word. the version that wound up on the cutting room floor had a hot blonde chick accidentally kissing a mexican guy and then feeling so digusted that she drank a bottle of bleach, slit her wrists, set herself on fire, and jumped off the roof -- all because she had done something so vile.
america lol'd hard. |

| I just see it as a funny commercial for a popular candy bar. |

| this is right in line with that Restaurant Workers establishment going at it with the K-Fed commercial. people have just nothing better to do these days. |
