Well, what is most important to get in terms of quality Equipment?
Mixer is the most important thing I assume, followed by turntables, CD Player, equalizer, headphones, then speaker and amps last. Does that sound about right? |

TURNTABLES are the most important!!!!!
The PITCH ADJUSTMENT is the key to success!!!
you can get away with a mixer, but if the pitch adjsutment is well out in terms of CALIBERATION, then ur struggling! |

| So it is most important to get high quality turntables? And I know you shouldn't start off with the best quality stuff when your a beginner, so should I aim towards the $200-$250 range tables? |

| MAYBE A BIT MORE THAN THAT, U DON'T WANT SUMMIN THATS GOING TO UP IN A FEW WEEKS TIME. PLUS YOU DON'T WANT SUMMIN THAT'S SO THAT WHEN YOU EVENTUALLY GET ROUND TO BUYING TOP EQUIPMENT YOUR LIKE, WTF IS THIS!! |

Well I have often wondered, what's "wrong" with getting 1200s as your first decks if you can afford it?
I mean, surely technics are easier to learn with than decks that are half the price, no??? I don't think decks really get more complicated as they get more expensive, they just get more reliable and "allow" you to do more things. But you can always just leave the extra buttons or functions alone and not touch them.
Anyone got any thoughts on that? |

| I'm just wondering if that's a good idea for me drop $800 on the decks right off the bat. I still would need a mixer, equalizer, speakers, amp, headphones, cd player, and some vinyl. That's a lot of bank. |

I didn't mean decks get more complicated especially 1210's possibly the least complicated deck there is, but more the mixer, with extra channels and features ect ect.......
Yeah you can get a pair of TECHNICS straight away, but what if you don't make it?? A huge amount of money just for a bedroom hobbie!!!
But the other point is, if you learn on cheap decks in which the pitch not as calibrated as expensive decks, then you gain handy pitch skills at an early stage!
Another point is if you bought top of the range decks for ur bedroom and you got a gig at a local bar which had some BUDGET BELT DRIVES, you wouldn't have a clue that each time u lifted the needle of the vinyl the pitch would be slightly different because you will never have had any experience of cheaper decks. |

| Yeah I suppose, but is that the only reason people don't advise starting with a good pair of decks, or are cheaper decks easier to learn with? |
