LOL @ low paid. Even if I WAS going to be a low-paid nurse, I don't give two s...that's not why I'm doing it.

Of course they make us jump through hoops...this isn't ing art school. It's people's LIVES we're learning to care for, lol.

I'm really getting sick of a lot of your guys' ignorant comments about nursing.

hhaa good point. but at least you have noticed *some* good out of it. :)

It depends where you work, but yeah. :)

My friend makes 66 grand a year PART TIME, and 45 bucks an hour PART TIME working for another agency. I wouldn't call that low-paid either.

It's amazing how many people have no ing clue what nurses actually do and how important their role is. But these stereotypes and misconceptions have and will always exist. I have to try not to take it so personally, lol. After all, I'm not in this profession for personal gain or any kind of special recognition.

seriously? i read in the star a couple days ago that the average nurse pay here is as low as 24/hour and as high as 34/hour, which isn't exactly a lot compared to what you have to go through to be one.

omg seriously! thats SOOO not low paid. 66k a year PART TIME is ing awesome. i make 35k a year right now. and i work full time.

and yeah people are clueless about the industry. im not in it but i have known a few people that are and they do SOOOOO much. and its good that your not in it for personal gain. most arent but the select few that are ruin it for all. it is unfortunate but its that way in every industry. but good luck in your indeavours and i hope you do well!

Yes seriously. The Star must have been referring to RPNs...not RNs. There actually is a lot of money to be made as an RN, it just depends who you work for, your skills and experience, etc.

If I was interested in doing it for the money I could be a Nurse Practitioner and make doctor's wages.

And as for what we have to go through to be one, again...it's not art school. The expectations of us won't seem silly if you ever end up in the hospital. ;)

i guess in TO they get paid . here in cali they start at 5k/month with NO experience. with experience closer to 8k a month. also most nurses including new ones get between a 10k and 50k signing bonus.

5k/month is USD31.25/hr.

i always thought nurses made bank. my friend Dre's mom was making something ridiculous like $56/hour. i don't know what type of nurse she was or what she did exactly, but that's definitely not low-paid.

Yeah the possibilities are endless really. The more experience I have, the more I'm likely to get paid.

Nursing is really awesome in that respect. Once I have my degree I can do SO much with it.

I have a lot of admiration for my professors...they have so much experience in so many areas of nursing...it's a lot to aspire to. I get excited to think that one day I will know what they know. :)
