Hello!
Would be interesting to know how many of you still use hardware synths etc in your studio today when software is the main option. If so what hardware you got left and why? |

| Nice setup Dirty. I have alot of respect for those who still not only produce with hardware but perform with hardware as well. I only wish that hardware was cheaper to come by. It's hard to justify spending $800 on a new synth when I can get the same VST package for $50. |

| 150% hardware...the only software I use is Kontakt for samples and the Minimoog vsti for well moog type stuff. I got the moog vsti because getting a real moog is to expensive and the maintenance is way overpriced. ALl in all I love hardware. My favorite piece of gear has to be the K-STation...I use it a lot. |

don't actually own any hardware synths anymore.
But I've used some in productions, virus b, cs6x, k-station and the yamaha cs2x. |

Yep I use a virus c / jp8080 / Novation ks rack. Though they are all va I think they all hve a diffrent charter which I like.
I like the way soft synth's give me access to a alot more wave forms so don't have to use the same old sounds all the time. |

Depents a lot on the synth. JD-800 has around 100 waveforms and 4 oscillators to play them. Fantastic synth. |

I use 80% Hardware. The only softsynths I'm currently using are the Novation BassStation and the impOSCar (fantastic softsynth!). Other than that, I havent found too many software alternatives to my JP-8080, Roland JV-1080 and my Virus B.
Why do I use hardware? Because I like the hands-on aspect of creating sounds and the fact that my computer CPU cycles can be used for other things, mainly software FX.
On the other hand, I still haven't found a software reverb plugin that sounds as good as my lowly Lexicon MX200 hardware FX processor, and that thing was only $200!
I think I'll be sticking with hardware for some time. |
