Apparently Trent Reznor of NIN is using some very elaborate methods to promote his new upcoming album.
First, a website was found from spelling out bold letters from a tour tshirt. Explained here. And this has led to even more disturbing sites as well.
But whats even more interesting is that 3 new songs from the album have been leaked (seemingly intentionaly). Someone (Trent?) has been leaving flash drives in bathrooms at various stops on NIN's recent tour in europe. The 3 songs are: My Violent Heart, Survivalism, and Me, I'm Not.
More of this is explained at these forums HERE and here
And here are some cool (and creepy) spectral images from some of the mp3s found.

Survivalism and My Violent Heart; I hope are the worst of the entire album. If they are meant to be the best of which then I will be dissapointed.
Either way I'm definately going to see them again if they come over to Boston next your and still will be buying this album...
In my opinion Trent is pretty much a musical genius as he is and his studio is literally mine blowing...

I had to post all those...yes i did :wtf: |

I wonder if he'd get pissed If I took a hammer to all those things he's got there...
Nah, I think it's all worth pocket change to him :wtf: |

IMO, he's a relic by now. Unless he somehow manages to suddenly master a whole bunch of theory he never has before, or busts out some revolutionary production w/e (which would have to be pretty extraordinary by this point), I don't see much of a point to him anymore. The lyrics have always sucked, the sounds aren't new anymore, and he hasn't grown in the last 5+ years. I'm skeptical, to say the least.
Still a nice studio, though. |

Well depends on how you look at it, theres a lot behind his music than just the sounds in it. There are so much lying behind tracks that arent really comprehensible, especially in The Fragile sessions and The Downward Spiral which were some of the darkest of his years.
He's an extremely intellectual individual and I dont doubt any of this conspiracy for a second, he's quite the activist in terms of government. I love stuff like this, it really makes his music a lot more mysterious an enjoyable because obviously, there is a lot more meaning behind it than just what you can hear.
He revolutionized music in a pretty intense fashion, from the start that is. It isn't so intense now because everyone seems to be going after the same sound and style in many cases.
My opinion. |

| I'm sorry, but I think that's a load of crap. The fact that he put emotion into a song, and has lyrics that convey that emotion doesn't mean there's a lot behind it. In fact, I'd argue that his is some of the most straight-forward music out there. As for the activism part, that sort of thing just annoys me. Make music or be an activist or both. Obviously, the confines of lyrics cannot convey a message more effectively than prose, so why use them to express your opinions, particularly when it means alienating people who might otherwise enjoy the music, itself? Just make something that everyone can relate to--not just the half of the population who agrees with you--then take your gripes to another forum. |
