Lol, I'm having a fun time reading this thread. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that they asked me to DJ for a school party, and everything you TA's have said has been 100% true. They requested a bunch of cheesy ass songs from the likes of DJ Sammy, Lasgo, (no disrespect, just that thats not my type of music)etc. Not to mention that when I dropped Satisfaction everyone looked at each other and said, "I know that song." Anyway, point being, playing at high school parties is gonna suck most of the time if youre playing to a radio-listening crowd.

How about Benny Benassi - California Dreamin' Remix?

For some reason at my high school all the kids loved Benassi.

Hell yeah. I've gotta admit, Benassi has some cool . Problem is, most people just know "Satisfaction", so every time they see his name they avoid it :p

We should just have a thread for trance remixes of popular tunes.

Heck, you could get a good reaction by dropping more well-known trance like PVD's "For An Angel".

Olav Blasoski's "Waterman" (Trophy Twins Remix) is HOT. Definately try that...

honestly, i don't think a high school crowd at this time would recognize that song unfortunately. a few might, but the majority just listens to the radio as people said before :( just stick to pop music remixes i think lol

Great idea...we can't expect people to even know popular trance songs.

Isn't there a gazillion of those in MD already?

...Also or Madonna's Music (it's actually a pretty cool track to mix) or Hi-Tack's Say Say Say is definately something you can throw in the middle if the kids get bored...
if youre willing to travel to the supercheese land

And/or any remixes of cheesy pop-tunes they recognize

If you have to play dance music then I would recommend to stick devoutly to vocal tracks i.e. something you can sing along to.

Thanks for all the good advice. It's helped a lot. I couldn't reply for the past few days because I was without internet.

First off. I couldn't play on friday because It was going to rain. and I've been rescheduled for next friday :(
Oh well more time to pratice :D

I like the advice about playing Benassi. The only problem is that I have trouble mixing into the his songs. Most of benassi has a funky baseline that isn't as regular as most house/electro. ( I guess I could always do a crossfade :p ) It's really popular at our school though. So I'm gonna try to open with a Benassi song.
