haha, yeah, seriously... if you can stand to live with your mom, i say do it for as long as possible. |
No. Continuing to live with my mom is out of the question. I love her and appreciate everything she has done for me, but the only reason we are getting along lately is because of me and because I’ve been really going out of my way to show her I appreciate her (basically kissing her ass and doing whatever I can to please her). I’ve been staying home a lot, etc… God forbid I start having a life. She gets jealous (won’t admit it though) and starts finding reasons to tell me to come home.
I like it that I’ve been saving money, but at the same time, I want to be able to sit on my couch naked and spark a j whenever I feel like it, or bring home a hottie and scream in ecstasy until the sun comes up. Hahaha that sounds bad but you get my drift;)
I suppose I can’t do either of those with a roommate either, but if I find a cool guy roommate, he probably wouldn’t care. lol Hopefully I'll find a decent 1 bedroom all for myself:D |

No worries babe, I was just taking the proverbial piss to you - After all, I know how much you like watersports! :wtf:

Either way, James is helping me out - big time! :) |
neat! you've got my support either way, and if you can graduate in Dec there's no sense in transferring to Milwaukee for 1 semester... i hope it doesn't seem like i'm pressuring you to move in with me. i'm just so excited for the day when we don't have 150 miles between us, and we can have a sweet little crack mansion of our own with custom doormats that say "w3lc0m3 n00bz!"

i hear ya, and if i were you id probably wanna move out too if it was really a hassle like you say it is. i guess i just had it super easy when i was living at home because my mom never cared what i did, who i brought home, what time i got home, where i was, etc... i could smoke pot and let drunk boys sleep on my floor and all she would say the next morning is "who wants pancakes?!" |

hahah that's awesome. no my mom would gasp in horror if she woke up to drunk guys on the floor lol she's such a prude, but she was such a party girl when she was my age too, it annoys me. she's quite the hypocrite sometimes, but whatever.
not to mention, for the first time in my life, I’m going through this promiscuous phase and I’m having a blast and i just don't care, so now would be a great time to move out. lol
ps- i kept reading rjt's post as "jamie's helping me a lot" i was like huh? |

| jamie: i don't see how you do it. i got kicked out when i was 18 cause i had a life. got kicked out 3 times. 3rd time stayed out and haven't looked back. its so liberating knowing I'm doing better than my parental units yet i have no college education. i could afford their house payment EASY! my rent now is like $100 less than their house payment! then again if i did live up there id be making and living in a hell hole of a town. |

Well I’m not doing better than them at all and I've never been kicked out before. My dad makes a crapload of money, but spends it as fast as he makes it, and my mom doesn't make as much as he does, but she lives quite comfortably. She has a nice apartment, a new car, and she is smart with her money and saves up for vacations every year. She’s just set in her little ways and she’s pretty strict about things when it’s under “her roof”.
I could be 40 and she would still be all up in my business if I was staying with her. That’s just how she is. It’s how she was raised. She’s the oldest of 6 from a big irish catholic family and she went to private catholic school, etc… she has a lot of old school values and they drive me nuts. My dad is way more laid back. I loved living with him before he married his wife. lol Can't stand her...
My mom and I get along fine. She cracks me up and she has her moments too. Things will be much cooler when I'm out though. I'm excited:) |

I have a student line of credit, which I guess is the same thing.
If I understand what you're saying correctly, you're not actually going to go to school...you just want the money?
I dunno how it works at your bank, but at mine they required proof of full time enrollment before they gave me the money. They also didn't give it to me without having collateral and doing a credit check.
Fortunately I have those things in good standing, so they hooked me up...very very nicely too!
I think it's cool if you're going to go to school...sometimes you just have to accept that you HAVE to be in debt at some point in your life (if you don't have mommy and daddy doing everything for you). But if you just want this money to around, then I think it's a bad move.
edit: No they don't watch my spending, but they only release it in increments of 10 000 per year. I can do whatever I want with it once it's in my account. |
haha, yea of course I'm going to school (full time student), and I have excellent credit (paying off my car).
I have no spending money whatsoever though, but I find that impossible because I work about an average of 35 hours a week! The car is really beating the out of me, and I still have to pay for school.
I'm thinking...I have about 2 more years of payments on my car, and after that's done it'll alleviate most of my expensses. Since you don't have to pay back the loan until after you graduate, and that'll be awhile, it shouldn't be hard to save enough money by then. Like Sylee stated before, student loans interest is a lot lower. I really only want a small amount anyways, say 5k-10k.
I know no matter how low the interest rate is I'll still end up oweing more than I borrowed, but if you think about it HOPEFULLY I'll have a better paying job after I graduate, and paying will be in really small increments.
I WANT THINGS NOW NOW NOW~~~~~~~~~~~
btw, although everything was related, you guys really know how to hijack a thread :p |

Well if the majority of the money is going to be spent on school then go for it. I personally would never take out a loan just because I needed spending money. That's completely irresponsible, imo. |
