What's wrong with a promo video? No need for jealousy just because he's reaching out to a bigger audience. Thats how the industry works my friends.

I haven't even watched it and don't plan to, but I'm just commenting based on these reviews.

I watched it again and the people interviewed are worse than the actors in infomercials

Woah woah woah....Carl Weathers and Chuck Norris are NOT d-list celebs

yep yep. well because he doesn't need to. there's a lot of famous dj's out there who didn't (need to) resort to this kind of self-promotion. ... actions (quality of performance) usually speak louder than words hence if a dj is extraordinarily good s/he WILL get noticed & will get the deserved recognition. it's all about hard work, dedication and determination & whatever goes along with that (i.e. Preach).

it is a tough industry to succeed in, and that does need to be appreciated, so at the end of the day, it is nonetheless great to see how many TO people stick up for him. :)

Dude I have A LOT of time to kill at work. I frequent other areas of TA just to say hi, bust some chops. I like it here, it's fun. I was going to make a crack about Addy in the "first party" thread, but decided against it.

Are you sure about this?

Nowadays, there are so many DJs (and so many damn good ones) that it's also marketing.
Sure, you have to be a good DJ (actually, nowadays good producer) to get recognition, but if you don't get PR or do some sort of marketing, you don't get gigs and if you don't get gigs... well, no matter how good you are, if no one recognizes your goodness then it's all futile. (Not that anything I've said is anything original and said many times by others)

...that's what i meant by this. sure it's marketing, getting your name out there, networking & own productions ... but like this? that's what i'm trying to say in response to the JZ comment. i'm not bashing or discrediting this kind of self-promotion. ok, it's different and it could/ can work. everybody does it differently. whatever rocks their boat & works for them.
