Driving under the influence of alcohol or any drug is simply that...
Under the influence. For the chubs that say they are OK and 'concentrate' more with (put your drug name here), think about the person who got behind the wheel thinking they were fine to drive after a few beers. How would you explain it to the mother who just had her husband and 2 kids killed? How is a little bit of beer different than a little bit of weed, or coke, or xanax or whatever? It's not.
I think it is just flat out irresponsible and stupid to drive under the influence of anything. Even potent prescription drugs have the warning to not operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle because it impairs your ability to function. What warnings would street drugs have if they actually came with them? That is the whole thing with drugs... it impairs something... whether it is your nerves, your mind, your thought, your actions... you name it.
Go ahead and drive under taking whatever you want... just don't go crying to your parents or friends when they say 'told ya so' after the goes south. |

It is. Have you ever done coke? Some drugs like weed, xanax, and alcohol impare your ability to concentrate, slow your reflexes, and hamper your motor skills. Others, like coke, meth, or amps enhance your ability to concentrate, sharpen your reflexes, and have no negative effects on your motor skills. Big difference there if you ask me. The US Air Force gives pilots amphetamine when they have to fly for long periods of time to combat fatigue and keep them sharp. If you can fly a 20 million dollar airplane and bomb precision targets on amphetamine I think its probably ok to drive your car too. |

I don't understand why you feel you need to change the world by explaining that you think drugs are OK while driving. They are illegal for reasons and impairs you flat out.
The air force (and other branches of the military) use dexamphetamine. Are you going to now make me believe that street crack and dexamphetamine are chemically the same? The half life of dexamphetamine is 10-28 hours... coke? 10 minutes. Dexamphetamine is an amphetamine analogue. It simulates the effects of an amphetamine.
And no, I have never done coke. Why the I want to waste my life with that ?
| quote: | Cocaine’s effects appear almost immediately after a single dose, and disappear within a few minutes or hours. Taken in small amounts (up to 100 mg), cocaine usually makes the user feel euphoric, energetic, talkative, and mentally alert, especially to the sensations of sight, sound, and touch. It can also temporarily decrease the need for food and sleep. Some users find that the drug helps them perform simple physical and intellectual tasks more quickly, while others experience the opposite effect.
The duration of cocaine’s immediate euphoric effects depends upon the route of administration. The faster the absorption, the more intense the high. Also, the faster the absorption, the shorter the duration of action. The high from snorting is relatively slow in onset, and may last 15 to 30 minutes, while that from smoking may last 5 to 10 minutes.
The short-term physiological effects of cocaine include constricted blood vessels; dilated pupils; and increased temperature, heart rate, and blood pressure. Large amounts (several hundred milligrams or more) intensify the user’s high, but may also lead to bizarre, erratic, and violent behavior. These users may experience tremors, vertigo, muscle twitches, paranoia, or, with repeated doses, a toxic reaction closely resembling amphetamine poisoning. Some users of cocaine report feelings of restlessness, irritability, and anxiety. In rare instances, sudden death can occur on the first use of cocaine or unexpectedly thereafter. Cocaine-related deaths are often a result of cardiac arrest or seizures followed by respiratory arrest. |
Wow!!! Sounds sooooo fun. But whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night is fine by me.

ah whatever...i'm not saying coke is wonderful and good for you, but if u do it once in a while, responsibly, it can be in fun. but most people have a hard time doing it only once in a while and responsibly.
i used to have a problem with it. i mean, i didn't need it to function, nor was i doing it at work or needing it to get up...to me, THAT'S a major problem. i was just a weekend warrior. usually polishing off an 8ball or 2 between friday night and sunday afternoon. lol i pulled it off though. i still made it to work and seemed fine and drug-free.
now a days, i'll do a bump or 2 here and there if i'm drinking and it happens to be available, but i haven't bought any in ages and i don't arrange to have it before a night out. i could take it or leave it. |

What I failed to add was that he feels they don't impair you while driving.
Nonetheless great rebuttal. |

Eh, drugs aren't that bad. The addictive potential and side effects get way overblown by sensationalist media and government agencies, which of course have quite an interest in making people afraid of them. The key is moderation. People who can't control their use of drugs will find some other way to keep their brains addled all the time, like fundie religion or revolutionary politics, which can often be far more dangerous.
I still advise against driving or doing any other activities with a high potential for death and disfigurement while under the influence, though. |

I have no issue with recreational use. I've done plenty in my day. I do have an issue with people driving under it. xanax is trying to force feed his idea that it does nothing negative to you. |

For the vast majority of people, driving is by far the most dangerous thing they will do from day to day. For some it may be the most dangerous thing they ever do.
It is a shame that people do not drive as though they realize this. |

i don't drink or smoke much at all and haven't tried anything ahrder so i got nothing to add to that discussion, but for the general doing other while driving i could add tons of
i've completely changed my outfit before while driving. i'm talking from compression shorts cleats socks shorts under armor shirt and jersey to shoes socks jeans and a t-shirt
would i do it again? probably not unless i needed to, but its not that hard.
i should also mention driving is my job, i work delivery. under almost all circumstances i'm one of the safest and most cautious drivers on the road in my town. still doesn't change the fact that i can drive with my knees or anything though
haha a few weeks ago while working it was snowing like crazy but it was kinda half rain half snow, so it was freezing to my wipers and windows and whatnot, so while driving like 30 mph through campus i had my window open and was scraping off my windshield with an ice scraper while i drove
got a really weird look from a cop :wtf: |
