I am surprised mine are still as good as they are.
Minimal volume and I can still squeak in the 21.1kHz. :)

The highest frequency I can hear is 16.7kHz. What's the highest you can hear?

I got to about the same place as you although if I had better headphones, a better sound card and less ambient noise around me, I could probably hear a couple higher.

Not bad for someone in their '30 somethings' lol ;) :p :toothless

It was Zeidoo's 25th birthday yesterday but I wasn't quick enough to start a thread - I think we shoul give the 'aging ear' thread a dual purpose - HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!! :D

Ok, so I just remembered something that should throw off a lot of results, well for anybody who says they can hear about above 20khz, including me.

The problem is that most consumer electronics are only rated to 20khz, their main range is 20-20khz. What does this mean? Anybody claiming to be able to hear above 20khz (21.1khz) probably shouldn't be able to hear it, unless they have some top notch equipment.

I know my sound card is rated to a higher spec, but I'm not sure about the headphones I used. I used the Shure e2c, which are very good, and have above average frequency response, but I do not think they are rated above 20khz.

So I am thinking, for those of us that said we were hearing 21.1khz, I do not think that was actually the case.

I am going to create some higher quality samples, and test this theory.

How are you going to test it considering you won't be able to hear the result?

Well I can create the sound (say 21khz) on the computer, and my sound card can play it back. But, if I do not hear anything through my headphones, then I know they cannot play anything past a certain point.

EDIT: ah..i see your point, ok gotta find a new way of testing things. It would only work if I knew i could hear past 20khz.
