I never used to think about it until recently. The smoking and unhealthy eating habits have made a noticeable difference, and its kind of hard to miss at times. I don't fear dying, but I do fear the incapacity and senility of age. I just hope that at that time I have a good wife, a few kids, and a peaceful life.

I'm surprised so many of you insist you aren't afraid of dying! Can I please point my grandpa's loaded WW2 revolver in your face for a few seconds to see if you really are as strong as you all say?:p

if you keep the right frame of mind and keep your body in proper working order age really does just become a number after a while :)

I love your attitude :)

The only time I think about getting old is when I think just about the biological timeline and everything I want to do in the next 10 years - starting a family, but also starting a career in a very demanding profession (which I am hoping to get going on this year but it might have to wait). As I get older, I find myself wanting it all (moreso) - and wondering how I am going to juggle everything.

That isn't so much a function of age though, it's more to do with the fact that there are only 24 hours in a day!

That aside, there is a lot of my life still to live and it would be silly to fear it. I feel like I'm just getting started! My grandmother is 86 and she is the oldest member of Curves (in Canada, I believe!) She is incredibly sharp and is an amazing inspiration for anyone who fears aging. My grandfather is 82, going a bit fuzzy, but they still have the cutest relationship ever.

I think I'm going to call them right now.

I don't so much fear getting older as I do feeling older.

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

I'm about to start Life ver. 2 (beta) in Europe, and pretty much start fresh with everything at 31 years old. It's a really cool feeling of renewal, knowing that you can start over but take all the life-lessons learned to this point with you.

I'm super excited :D

It's crazy how many misconceptions there are about aging and growing old. After working with older adults, my own perception of it has changed greatly...and though I never feared getting old to begin with, my new insight has made me feel even more at ease with the idea.

I look forward to a different phase of life, wisdom and experience, new opportunities, and even wrinkles!

I DO fear losing my autonomy though...I can't imagine how I will cope if I end up in a nursing home. I would like to think I'll be able to deal with it...but only time will tell!

I'm not really afraid of anything. I live every moment like it is my last, creating memories and spreading sunshine wherever possible.

I always joke that when I die and my life flashes before my eyes, it will take at leat 3 months! ;)

Seriously guys, dying doesn't just happen to the elderly - I lost my nana at 49 in a car accident and that gave me such a different outlook on life and what we should do with it while we are lucky to have it.

I've been trying to move into a retirement home for years!

Here's an example; My grandpa is in his mid 80s and very healthy, except a bit of a heart issue. Still, he often jokes when I ask him how's he feeling "well I'm still here for another day!"

When you reach a certain age, it becomes increasingly obvious that you're fair game for anything; strokes, cancer, heart attacks, etc. It must be terrifying to be in your senior years and have that constant, nagging feeling that every day could be your last. I'm certainly not looking forward to it.

One thing is clear though; I'm still quite young but I no longer feel invincible like I once did.
