The foods actually very decent, the problem is not many tourists or people on business go to the right places. If you look around we have some brilliant restaurants and gastropubs.

Actually best food I found there was just by asking people where to eat something nice, the misconception that british cooking in a country of over 20+ minority ethnic groups in London alone should lay to rest any doubts it's just boiled vegetables and mash as a cliché.
But people love cliché, regardless because they don't have to form an opinion of their own.

Though, I didn't find a decent Mexican restaurant anywhere :haha:

I had you down as a Pie and Mash girl!.

We have some fantastic Modern European restaurants it's British food but it's cooked using French gastronomical style and flair. Infusing more foreign ingredients into a British dish. Our ethnic minorities cook some fantastic food nothing beats a good old fashioned Ruby Murray 'Curry' a lot of British Asians have infused Indian cuisine with British and it's good stuff really inventive. There is some brilliant Italian and Spanish places too. Just look around you'll be amazed what you can find.

I'll give a couple of recommendations next time any of you are in the Old Smoke. Some are restaurants others are gastropubs.

Fifteen, Eagle, Moro, Konstam, Duke of Cambridge.

Check the Evening standard and Time Out websites for ratings and advised eateries. If you really want to push the boat out and fork out the cash and eat at posh eateries checkout AA Gills reviews in The Times online or you could go to one of Gordon Ramseys places.

Like what? I went there the food was expensive and food horrible. Service wasn't too good either. I followed the logic that if its full than it must be good. But it wasn't. It was a chinese restaurant near Kensignton Palace.

Clothes are joke? Why because we actually buy decent brands. If you give it attitude about the city and culture then no wonder people were ignorant towards you.

Paris is hated by other french people usually.
The country has this country Us versus Them type feel to it.
Anyone outside of Paris hates the city while having never been there, and all Parisians think the rest of the country is full of unaducated fools.

They are arrogant as hell.

In regards to architecture London is much more forward thinking these days for the simple reason that you still have places where you can build. In Paris there's nowhere to build and as everything is old and "important" no way in hell it's going to get torn down.

Food in London is also becoming a world leader. Sure Paris ain't bad but they are stuck with the same ol'.

France would be a big world power easily rivalling China if they could get rid of their unions which strangle the crap out of the economy every time their leaders feel like a day off. The work ethic in a lot of their services and industrial sectors leaves a lot to be desired as well, but that's mostly part-parcel with unions running roughshod for too long.

Unions and taxes are what kills this nation.
Also no one gives a f*ck about their jobs usually. Why work hard when it's the boss who is making all the money is the usual feeling there.

you do realize that everywhere you go around the world each country will have their own versions of foreign foods.
Have chinese food in the US, UK, Germany and China and trust me it will taste different in every place.

I love chinese food but considering most places you go to make it so badly compared to back in the homeland I usually don't bother.

I watch plenty of British cooking shows and the cuisine there really is top notch. People need to stop focusing on this image of the weird foods like lamb and mint etc.
Every country has it's weird crap food that everyone stereotypes by. Yanks only eat burgers, Brits fish and chips, French a baguette with a gauloise, Chinese a bowl a rice with some dog ( that's all they can afford ), ..

oh man, don't even try to say me that.
You have brands, really good brands, but the problem is that only limited number of people are able to afford it. And most of the nation doesn't have any idea what the word taste means.

I agree like people in France think people in the UK eat nothing but Roast Beef and vegetables in return over here we think they eat snails, frogs legs, and brie cheese. We have a variety of dishes as do the French it's really worth exploring as different regions have different produce which in return are effected by migrations of where foreign people have settled over the years.
