| This poll has probably already been done before but I searched for it and I couldn't find it. I would like to know what operating system you guys would use, 2000 pro or XP. Also, if you could post the pros and cons of each (cons other than the fact that windows sucks) that would be great. I have both...with 2000 my system runs with more stability than when I used '98 SE...but it seems to crash all the time (I know this sounds like a contradiction). The problem with 2000 is that I can't play games with it. I've never used XP but I have it and I was wondering weather I should reformat and install it. |

| XP easily wins, although they r both built on nt technology 2K just wasnt compatible with anything, and the first version i had didnt come with open gl, which is a bitch when you come to play games. Anyway xp has not crashed on me once in the 3 months i have had it. So it wins my vote. No slow down, no need to reboot. So far so good. I am really impressed with it :) |

I have win2000 server for school
but xp = better
Win2000 = the result of the power of win NT and the UI of win 98
WinXP = the result of the power of win2000 and the UI of WinMe
I had to learn that for my exams so its still fresh in my memory |

| Win 2k defos for me, Xp cashes 2 much, I think theres a new, less buggy version of XP (XP 2002) in the works that shud b out later this year. I actually run dual boot win2k pro and 98, so if u got games or nething else that wont run on win2k boot to 98 :D |

are most games compatible with XP. ^^^i find that win2000 pro crashes all the time.
also ^^^ in order to have a dual boot, do you need 2 separate partitions? |

i honestly like the way my system runs under windows 2000 pro...but, it crahses way too much. is this only on my system?
off topic...coup, i was looking at your sig. and if you look at it a certain way the eagle nebula looks like a clenched fist flipping the bird. |

XP runs basically the same format as win2k, so if something wont run on win2k, it prob. wont run on XP. For dual boot you do need seperate partitions for win2k and 98, very easy to do under FDISK.
If I was you and win2k is crashing alot then I wud think about changing it, or at least try a fresh, clean install, but I'm suprised it is crashing, as its by far the most stable I have used. |

I won't vote 'cause they both are e.
Get a real os like Linux or BeOs and just keep win98 if you like to play games and stuff.
Micro$hit stuff sux BiG time. |

well...i also have best linux 2000 r3 final. i was considering installing it but i don't know how many of my programs will run in it. i often use cool edit pro and sounge forge, winamp, and the microsoft office utilities. i don't think that they will operate under linux. will they? |
