to be completely honest I don't think it's that dangerous, I mean they're not toddlers.

Has the world gone batty????
i cant believe im even debating this. do people not see the impending danger of kid running up stairs....i dont care if they can fit 1000 kids across. |
Also the way you phrased your first sentence - "20+ kids in a stairwell", could make it sound like you were worried about the kids being cooped up in a stairwell - regardless of the rest of your post (which is why I only quoted that one line) |

I know they're not toddlers but you know how easily kids fall/slip especially when they're running around.
I just think that a group of 8 year olds running up and down stairs is a recipe for disaster.
There's plenty of other things they could be doing in a gymnasium that are safer. |

| The issue here is not someone slipping and falling. No one slipped and fell. Why is the safety of stairs being brought up? |

because it was an activity that the children should NOT have been doing in the first place. Its a safety risk.....common. |

| I agree with TheNeonAlien, using the elevator would be a much safer option |

Shame on the one that made fun of the poor kid. I didn't find it funny, and I have a dark sense of humour. Know your limits.
As for his condition it could most probably be due to an aneurysm. I know of a kid that went to a school of mine, and collapsed because of an aneurysm.
Banging of the head could be that like someone else said that it was a seizure, OR he was in a lot of pain. Who knows. :S
RIP anyways. |

Ya...but Lars, kids can fall in the gym, they can fall off of jungle gyms, they can fall off of bikes - are you saying that those things shouldn't be allowed either?

A good point indeed. The kid didn't die b/c he fell. |

So should stairs just be taken out in general then? Please, there are far more dangerous things besides using the stairs for an exercise. Obviously the kids aren't asked to sprint up the stairs, you go at a slow pace which is not unsafe at all. Maybe we should just bubble wrap and make them wear armour, so all the kids don't get hurt.
Anyways, the kid died from something that was completely unrelated to stairs, but to physical activity. As someone already said he could have died playing tag after school. |

take the kid outta the equation!!!!
Kid.................Stairs................Dumb Mix.
gym equipment has mats, other safty messures that are put in place for the protection of children. The function of stairs is to get you from one floor to another.... its not gym equipment!
cause of the body snatchers???? whats gotten into ta? |
