| LOL this thread made me recall how in the last weeks of Crobar I was at Alegria party and I got cought by a shirt Mexican buzzboy while I was trying to smoke a bid of weed stashed into my Siggie. An hour later he cought my friend and I on the couch brakin up more weed at which point he tells me he is reporting me to the undercovers and bouncer who for the next hour just follow me around the club at a distance. (I later managed to still smoke me some weed) :disbelief |

I for one am all about smoking not being allowed at Pacha, I absolutely hate it when someone with a cig bumps into me and burns me or a hole in my shirt. Plus, imo, its one of the most disgusting and non-attractive things ever.
It would be nice if they had a seperate room where someone could take a short smoke break. |

Pacha security is a little overboard, especially with the searches. But i haven't had any particularly horrible experiences. That sucks that they've resorted to extortion, hope they read kaykay's e-mail and address the issue.
On the smoking thing as a whole, I'm a smoker, but I'm glad they made the law to eliminate it indoors. There were some nights at Roxy that were so smoke filled that it was almost unbearable (especially when added to the extreme heat and humidity of that place). And I know it was even worse for non-smokers. I'll confess that I have occasionally lit up on the floor at Crobar, and have only ever gotten a stern no-no finger wave from security. Crobar was odd though, because they have smoking areas indoors, so they're not really following the law. I'd rather go outside, esp when I need a moment to escape the heat, crowd & noise. |

ok, so I just got an email back from Pacha and this is what it said....
I can’t go about effectively changing things if no one brings this to the attention of a manager. We do not hear a lot of complaints considering the amounts of guests we have each week.
I will look into it, but unless someone gives me a description of the security guard and a name it is very hard to take action.
I always urge any guests to ask for a manager if there is a problem at any time. If you leave the club and say something afterwards, it makes it very difficult to get a hold of any situation. |

Hahah yea right the manager is probably in on it too. :rolleyes:
Even if you asked for a name they wouldnt give you theyre real one. Do you remeber what they look like? |

LOL, the mexican bussboy. I feel bad for them. Most are my age too. While im having fun and living it up, these guys are collecting cups and sweeping floors. Oh well, somebody's gotta do that . :p :D (Im sure most make good money but still sucks watching ppl have fun while ure working ass off) |

I recall, past the exit doors to the right of the reed room is a smoking section. On the first floor just near the bathroom's b/w the main room and reed room I see some.
-Smoking in a club is illegal
-Bouncer taking advantage of situation by asking for money
-seems you can't do anything about it because if you tell management your smoking then you are doing soemthing illegal in their eyes.
I say put the cirgerrete out in front of them and thats it. If that does not solve this situation then the bouncer is going that extra mile.
Smoking does not = expulsion from a club.. just a ticket or warning.
So if no ticket is given then just a warining. You can tell the management this and this will show the bouncers should only be allowed to do these two things in that sitation. If not then seems walking in a club is forfeting certain rights to have a so called good time smoking or not smoking:thepirate |

***shruggs*** i stopped smoking cold a few months back cuz i realized its bad for my health even when i used to social smoke in clubs awhile back. ever since i read that it affects women far worse than men healthwise -- but that was my own personal decision and i was never a regular smoker to begin with. We all used to smoke. ppl can do it if they want. not a big deal. :p i just turn away now when ppl do smoke. regardless, do it indoors at ur own discretion.
right, bouncers should not be taking it upon themselves to cop money and make their own profit outta this. thats not right. Just hope this doesn't become the norm AT parties there...this should be reported...but in the end it is ur word against theirs. but still i think they should be reprimanded at least. did anyone get a pic of the bouncer(s) at fault? |
