I did know this, although there wasn't too much added according to Gamefaqs.com ;)

I wish I still had my Saturn though... :(

If you want to play the game fairly, DO NOT get a Crissegrim or Ring of Varda.:clown:

I don't know what that means, but I don't have either of those things.

Inverted castle is weird - don't know if I'm a fan yet or not. It's cool and all, but I could have gone for more new stuff, not just the same thing upside down.

A crissaegrim is a nasty sword...or should I say, 100 swords. :wtf: You press the attack button once and you see a flurry of swings. It will decimate just about anything in your path.

A ring of varda boosts your stats, BIG time. ;)

a few thoughts...

- i'm thinking of selling my copy of the original ps1 SOTN (not the Greatest Classics version)... fetching for $30+ on ebay?

- Castlevania4 (SNES) is my fav version (better than SOTN for me)

- Castlevania2 (Belmont's curse?) was ing hard as hell... random ppl and events.. definitely something i'd like to play again if i can

- SOTN was avg for me.. not mind blowing as say.. the SNES upgrade from the NES version (holy lookit that whip rotate..wow!)... having someone telling you about the inverted castle is like someone telling you what happens at the end of CD1 for FF7

Sure, but, after a while, it's assumed most people either played the game and know about it, or never played the game and heard about it. At this point, that would be like saying The Sixth Sense was spoiled for you since you never saw it or the end of The Empire Strikes Back.

You MIGHT be able to get more for SOTN on e-bay because it's become rather rare in hard copy form. I saw it for sale once at Game Stop for like $30 and it was USED!

SUPER Castlevania IV was the BEST and last traditional Belmont adventure. I agree with you on the whip rotation. As far as I know, that skill was never used in any other Castlevania game to date, but I could be wrong.

Castlevania II - Simon's Quest. yes that game is hard, and annoying at times. I know of some people like one of my close friends who loves the game, but I don't. I have it on emulator just because it's part of the original Castlevania collection.

castlevania - circle of the moon for the GBA had that. also in "aria of sorrow" there was a whip-sword that had the same function i think.

honestly i liked the sega genesis version of castlevania moreso than the SNES version. i forget what it's called exactly, but the controls felt more natural (a lot less than the walking/jumping through mud feel of the NES/SNES versions).

Ah, I wasn't aware of that..

I believe you're referring to Castlevania: Bloodlines. There were two selectable characters: your traditional Belmont with a whip, and the other guy had a spear, which was a first for this series. Can't remember either guy's name though. That game was just all right to me.

I just did a little research on this. Very little actually, and I could be wrong...but I couldnt find it? Instead I found some other game called Dracula X, that supposedly is the same game? Huh?

Notable Saturn differences:

* The Japanese Saturn version of Symphony of the Night features Maria Renard as a playable character.
* A few new weapons/items/armor for Alucard's game.
* A new sprite for Richter is featured in addition to the old one, based on Ayami Kojima's depiction of the character. This is the sprite Richter uses when he fights Alucard in the Saturn version and can be used as a playable character as well.
* There are 2 areas of the castle (Cursed Prison and Underground Garden) which were not in the PS1 version. The Underground Garden area features a new boss, the Skeleton King.
* Also, when playing as Maria or Richter, certain areas of the castle play remixes of classic Castlevania music, such as "Vampire Killer" and "Bloody Tears".
