Think most people are bored of the whole Hollywood super-budget, pick a foreign film and re-hash it thing, horror movies are just a spin off from that industry which is both dull and over rates itself.
(Heck I think computer games probably make more money or close to the same than them) |

seriously man, you have to check it out.
It's just a great, great movie. The build up and the twist are just unbelievable.
What are all us Brits still doing up at this time? I finished all my uni assignments for this week so i'm having a wind down session. |

all the horror remakes are pretty gay. i don't know how they get enough money for studios to say " yeah! more remakes! easy $$$"
they are making a Halloween remake, looks pretty ty, and the forums are going crazy about how it will be ing awesome, albiet everything seems pretty ty. Same with Hills Have Eyes, Psycho (lololroflorlf), Chaos, TCM, etc.
aside from horror, they are remaking Oldboy(wtf), and Battle Royale (probably going to be gayed down, and replaced with anti-iraq sentiment :()
the only good remake i've seen has been The Ring. |

I want to see The Host, a huge huge huge film from Korea which is currently being distributed in America (and hollywood plans to do a remake $$$$$$$$$). But there are no local theaters playing it :(
I hear it's probably the best "horror" film of our era. The trailer makes it seem like a Sci-Fi, and reviews make it seem like every genre in the book (horror, comedy, drama, mystery, sci-fi, LOLORLFORL) |
its good, but nothing super groundbreaking. only reason it did so well in korea is because its one of the first huge hollywood-esque monster movies that has succeeded there..hard to explain but once u do catch it you'll see what i mean..its like korea's version of a big budget summer blockbuster...but very well done and entertaining nonetheless...wouldnt necessarily call it horror though.
best horror flick released in the US in 2006 was Descent IMO..supposedly there was a big buzz at this year's sundance festival regarding an indie horror flick called "the signal" that critics are saying will be massive when released..about some sort of weird signal frequency that takes over airwaves, TVs etc. and when viewed/heard for enough time causes ppl to turn into raving murderous psychopaths...like zombies with murderous intent and intelligence..its been bought up for distribution so hopefully we'll see it soon. |

The Signal?
Is it not called Cell?, based off Stephen Kings book "Cell, and directed by ELI ROTH?
The Wikipedia basically has it as a frequency that passes through microwve/cell that causes everyone to turn into psychopaths with no explanation or plot, except to survive |

not positive if it was based on the King book, but I'm certain it's being released as "The Signal", and Eli Roth didn't have anything to do with it, maybe he's workin on King's "Cell"?
anyway, here's some links to the signal's teaser site and an article about some of the reactions it got @ sundance, definitely got me intrigued:

Figuratively speaking, no sum of money would be enough to get me to watch The Prestige again.
Figuratively speaking watching that movie opened up a gate to hell :nervous: |

yarly. I remember seeing some study where they measured a bunch of stuff (heart rate & the like), and concluded that The Shining was the scariest film of all time--despite the fact that you don't even see anything. |
