Meth definitely deserves to be UP THERE with Cocaine and Heroin as being dangerous. I've watched way too many documentaries about it and i think its crazy how everyone becomes hooked onto it. For many couples whom they interviewed, it was because it made the sex UNBELIEVABLE. how ironic, then, that eventually it is responsible for loss of sex drive.
i remember reading an article which stated that new users of Crystal Meth are young, professional women trying to balance everything in their lives. I can understand why they would choose to do it...but i just couldn't believe it. :(
even pills cut with meth = not good even tho its a minimal amt. it causes such bad side effects in some ppl that I would just steer clear of them. unfortunately these are equated with giving ppl a lot of energy (the reason why ppl do meth in the first place)
i don't think there would be ANY CIRCUMSTANCES which would convince me to even try the top 4. |

| i'm not sure exactly how the 'Most Dangerous Drugs' research was done for this particular list of results, but with the research published in Mixmag, it was based on the drug's propensity to put people at risk of injury, death, and contraction of diseases like HIV/AIDS. The list they published pretty much corresponded to the list in the first post of this thread. What it meant was that statistically there were more cases of say, alcohol related injuries, deaths, and contraction of disease as opposed to say, ecstasy or marijuana related injuries, deaths, and contraction of disease. Interesting stuff... nonetheless, drug free is probably the best way to go... and meth = bad news (x_x) |

i thank nancy regan and her DARE program for scaring the out of me as a young impressionable child...still can't believe alcohol is 5th though. |
I think DARE really worked in the total opposite manner. It informed kids about what drugs were, which naturally sparked curiosity. |

| i don't know, watching a video of hardcore coke and heroine addicts going through detox locked up in a white room flippin out was pretty convincing...either way people will do what they want and as long as they are ok with it and aren't addicts who am i to judge |

The Meth Project is the largest advertiser in Montana, reaching 70-90% of teens three times a week. This is saturation-level advertising.
The research-based messaging campaign—which graphically portrays the ravages of Meth use through television, radio, billboards, and Internet ads—has gained nationwide attention for its uncompromising approach and demonstrated impact. The campaign's core message, "Not Even Once," speaks directly to the highly addictive nature of Meth.
watch the tv ads people!!!!!! they are really provoking and effective. |
I think those are GREAT ads... not preachy or boring like most. I remember billboards from my childhood that made me curious... those certainly did not - they really made me sick, and not much does that. The ones about parents were especially horrible. |

Don't forget the killer drug - PMA (paramethoxyamphetamine).
Also, the drug MCCP (1-(3-chlorophenyl)piperazine) is rising in popularity, certainly over here in Europe.
^ Both very toxic, both often sold as 'ecstasy' tablets.

For those fellow tranceaddicts who consume drugs and want to be on the safe side, i'd say get your pills tested or get a testing-kit (www.eztest.com for more info on testing-kits). |

Lyss I am not sure if you are comparing cocaine and meth on a similar level?.....but as a former worker in a substance abuse clinic, there is absolutely NO comparison with cocaine and meth. Meth is THE most damaging drug out there, and in my entire time working there, I had yet to see ONE meth head recover. The damages it does to your body as a whole and your functioning as a whole just gives me chills, and makes me emotional thinking about the people who I have encountered as addicts.
The commercials that Dani put up are seriously very close to the truth and not an exaggeration of what people look and feel like. It is truly a disgusting and horible drug for those who are addicted. |

I know quite a few toothless ravers.
Meth should certainly be on that list. |

no i wasn't comparing any of them really. Each substance has their own damaging properties and level of toxicity according to usage. that being said, meth should really be number 2 if not number 1.
i think those meth commercials would be MUCH more effective than anything done in the past because it drives the point home. I hope that schools are showing kids these commercials. I do not think kids will be curious to try ANYTHING after that. To think it could spiral out of control like that - its just awful :( |
