and who needs another megaclub? the life of the megaclub is on life support right now - surprising that someone would want to try and open one at this time |
well right now there's only 2 megaclubs in DC, Fur and Love,
Love has become 100% ghetto so nobody goes there anymore, and Fur does attract a crowd. |

I believe that the "mega-club", if done right, can function quite well... jmho... |

| it just surprises me that DC has the scene for 2 mega clubs - when i lived in dc there was nation and insomnia/fur and both of neither of them were ever at capacity on a consistent basis - even in nyc i would say that it's hard to pack crobar and pacha on a weekly basis. |

I'm pickin' up what you're puttin' down :p
I guess I'm just the optimist - I think that an upscale, well run, properly appointed large club can be a good time and very successful... we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed...
I'd love to have a large club <1hr away that I really enjoyed going to. |

I think it will be a Dream/Love type of club. They talk about the hottest promoters in the city and celebrity hosts, so it wouldn't surprise me if they have some ghetto ass act regularly like some rapper smoking weed onstage whilst drinking Hennessy from the bottle (which I had witnessed) like @ Dream/Love. Or 99.5 sponsored parties.
With that said, given the scene is different in DC, it will attract a lot of middle-class african americans, and wannabe african-americans, and it won't necessarily fail. |

"Middle-class african americans" go to Avenue and Love.
Plus, with a name like Ibiza, it's more likely to have a Euro crowd. |

Lavishing :p
Well people like don't me don't enjoy having one place to choose from so this may actully be a great idea. Plus the size of the place is what is needed for big name DJ's and if its kinda near Glow then it was attract people. Don't understand why its closing at 3am and who there booking but we will wait and say |

:conf:
I think it's a very alienating name for a club anyway, do u really think so?
And middle-class americans (based solely on economical class, not social) can drop a couple of benjamins for bottle service every once in a while.
What I'm saying is that most likely the crowd this club will cater to is the mainsteam crowd, not the electronic music crowd (at least not predominantly). If it is a multi-format club, then most definitely they'll have an electronic music (or "dance") dancefloor. If not, I can't help but seeing it as 1223 or Platinum. |

never in a million years would i thought i would be saying this but i hope this club does very well.glow has gone in a different direction for me over the last year and when they started confiscating local dj's demo cds at the door that was the final straw for me goin on a regular basis.i still go to glow and im friends with a lot of the staff and bouncers but im much more picky about who i see there now.the way they run the venue has really ruined the expierience for me there.its really hard for me to say that since ive been goin there since it was ran at club z.
whoever is running this place has to look no further then glows own website in the forums on how to make this venue better then fur(look at the alarming number of complaints).do the opposite of some of the ways fur runs their club, along with getting some promotion like nations to join in,then get dj's in that glow has neglected( sean tyas, sander van doorn, bringing cosmic gate back, blank and jones etc) and this place could really take off.im curious and hopeful to see some big changes in dc this summer with this news.\ |
