we need more places like cielo here in dc...we have five which is awesome- it's smaller, sick venue, solid, consistent EDM lineups, great system, no dress code, bouncers don't have insane power trips...etc etc
the lounge type of club is wayyyy better than the mega club! |

I'm sure it will be a hole like everywhere else in DC. Maybe once in a while a DJ worth seeing will come by and do a half-assed two hour set for $40 :rolleyes: The rest of the time it will be flooded by ghetto ass douchebags trying to prove how cool they are by spending as much money as possible on a bottle of smirnof and then getting drunk and starting fights. Also I'm sure atleast %60 of the club will be squandered on hip-hop.
We always get the short end of the stick here, don't get your hopes up. |

I just saw the bit about closing at 3AM. Now I KNOW it will suck. Jesus christ, take back what I said about 2 hour lame sets, they wont even have time for that little amount!
They really should be ing sued by the entire island of Ibiza for disgracing thier name. Don't clubs in Ibiza go from 12am -4pm or some ? 3am!?!? wtf... so in lame
I guess the time doesn't matter, as everyone will be faced, fighting, and puking everywhere by then anyways. Then they can drunk-drive their Hummers home to their overpriced faux-loft and daterape some passed out, underage Georgetown freshman. All with enough time to get up the next morning and ask dad for an extension on their credit limit.
Get ready for mobs of greasy persians with their waxed eyebrows and diesel shoes clamoring for bottle service and bouncers wearing cheap suits telling you that you can't come in because your shoes aren't polished enough.
Get ready to pay $12 for a thimble-full of Zelko and ice while your girlfriend gets dry-humped by some 3ft tall mob of asian guys.
"World Class" in DC has entirely different meaning. This place will be the hot for the rich kids and self-proclaimed celebs for about 2 months until the next vip-catering hole gets opened by some dickwad promoter who's dad owns an oil rig.
Remember how excited we all got before the FUR opening because of all the marketing BS they threw at us about how it was being custom-built for Glow? Yeah, how long did it take for that place to turn into a trashy hell-hole? A month? If that?
All the places opening in DC these days cater to the super-rich crowd of trust-fund foreigners who want to show off thier money. But the crowds are always low class and ghetto, no matter how much money they have. It doesn't matter how much they spend on the sound sytem, it will NEVER be about the music.
Yes I suppose many of these things can ring true for a number of cities. It just seems to be especially true for DC these days and it depresses me.
Erin is right, we need a nice, CHILL, small spot, dedicated to the music. I don't think that's going to happen though, as they seem to be in the process of destroying all those spots so they can open new "vip" places to temporarily bankroll their leased mercedes and meth habbits.

it's a trendy megaclub for bottle service... they aren't going to let buzzlife within 100 yards of it :p
Five's pretty much the only club left in town that I'd bother with these days. They get some pretty good headliners on a fairly consistant basis. There needs to be some more alternatives that are non-VIP-catering though. |
