This will be short.....NOT IMPRESSED. I've somehow never seen him before, and i can tell you that im in no rush to see him again. I can't recall him playing a single new hot trance track. He played alot of stuff from last year. Whats even worse is when i walked in around 1-115, he was playing what seemed like a rock song. He definitly sucked.
When Tong took over at 3, the music definitely improved. That is until around 4 am when he decided to play some 50's prom type song. It was really strange to say the least. Unfortunately i had to leave at 4am, so i don't know how tong closed out. ALthoug it did sound promising. |

I agree with jerZ. Of all my times seeking Oakenfold, this was by far the least impressive. He threw down 13 tracks over 1 1/2 hours (start the hating now), with a lot of the repeated stuff from last year - Roman Hunter mix of Faster Kill, Alfa - Sarcosant, The World Is Mine, Dirty South vs. Evermore, Gabriel and Dresden - Dangerous Power, Thomas Bronswaer. This pales in comparison even to other sets of his from '06. The mixing was at least good, but it was nothing like the old days. He also seemed to be in and out of the sets also, talking with people behind the booth and then running back to do something. I hate to say this, but it almost felt like watching a faded sports start on his last legs. Oakenfold rating: 3/10
Tong: much better, but not the best I've heard from him. He had a few very fresh but old school sounding tracks in the beginning. The Supertramps track is very fresh and stuck in my head. Another track with breaks and a rave-style piano riff was sweet as well. He got very prog-techy after 4 AM. Tong rating 6.5/10
Obviously, much of the crowd was there for Oakenfold, as the vibe went through a freeze frame and slowly trickled down afterwards.
Overall rating on the night: 5/10 (and not worth $40). |

| to tell the truth i was impressed by pete tong, i left at 4:15 or so and up to that point he played some good tracks and mixed much better than i thought he was capable. i like djs with some level of crowd interaction and he did that much better than oakie...oakenfold will never be the way he was in the late 90s and i didn't go expecting him to be. he entertained me for the hour and 45min he was on the decks (i'm never tired hearing the world is mine or dangerous power) but to spin for such a short period of time doesn't make much sense since he was the "headliner." like SebringVandit mentioned Oakie was half there, he spent a good amount of time talking and taking pictures with the people on stage which i thought was a bit much but whatever. probabaly not going to go hear oakenfold spin again unless it's damn near free because the cost doesn't correlate with the level of entertainment. |

| Wow...so glad I didn't go to this. Oakie has really sucked the last couple of times I've seen him. I keep hoping he'll re-find his mojo, but I guess I'll have to wait a little longer for that to happen. Was it packed? Were people into Oakie? |

He's too mainstream now...his music style of today & yesterday so to speak, are almost polar opposites, as far as trance & dance music goes. Yes dance music is constantly evolving however usually with time your DJing skills should improve not regress.
He's actually a nice guy but he seems a bit too Hollywood for dance music..unless of course Hollywood actresses singing hooks in trance/house songs is in our future :-( Oh wait he already did that:whip: |

| I really think he's tired and burnt out with DJing. If you compare him now to even 3 years ago, it's different. My friend who I was with also immediately said 'he ain't the same, just look at him, doesn't seem into it'. Also, when he did the Myspace thing a few months ago, he looked dead tired like he was ready for bed. I mentioned that this was like watching a fading sports star, it's clear he's getting by on his past and name recognition. Perfecto has eroded to where there's nothing left besides him, and almost all the tracks he spun last night have been worked in better by the likes of Armin and PVD. He's clearly gone off on his own path, but alienated his core audience in doing so. (Perhaps this also explains the Norfolk and Dayton club gigs - can go to cities where people largely don't know better.) |

| Well I'm not surprised by the reviews and SO GLAD I didn't go (even having a comp). I knew he was only gonna play for two hours. His set at Trance Energy sucked and his set at Cameo during the Conference was awful. Old tunes and trainwrecks. I was not at these events they were recorded.. I can't believe he still gets $40k for a two hour set. :eyes: |

| I stayed until 3 am. He is another one who just could care less and needs to pay his rent. He wasn't mixing after he wrecked the second mix in his set. Seemed to just cross fade really slowly and crank the base high. Also Studio sound system is very very week. All of the music stoped during the second song when oaky tried to crank the system a bit. |

| Seriously, do any of you actually expect a good set from these two? I have no idea how any of you picked this over Diggers. At least he cares about what he does enough to actually beatmatch. |
