If you have the MK3's you need to go to the pioneer wensite and DL the update for the OS.

I believe those are the cdj1000's you're talking about. We're discussing the cdj 800 mk II's here.

i'm a perfectionist, i seem to be able to pull off wicked long mixes with .1% with little correction (cdj-100 and worse)

i've used the 800mk2's, loved em

practice a bit more

it's not the gear, it's the user

you have 2 hands, use them

if i remember correctly, the mix in my sig was on cdj-100's

If you can't mix on .1 resolution you just flat out can't mix. Spend more time practicing. Until then STFU bitch!

damn boy all I can say is you're lucky you didn't learn on technics because as a perfectionist you'd be forced to ride the pitch which in essence would mean you'd have to keep a hand on the pitch fader at all times try to EQ doing that junior

This is why I need an extra pair of hands: ptich ride BOTH tables and EQ BOTH tracks.
Which is what I do. It sucks ass, and the fact that I bought used tables, that drift starts to become a problem when your trying to maintain 2-4 minute mixes. Add to that, a ty mixer, improper monitoring conditions(speakers are on the same table as the rest of the gear...not enough open space between walls and speakers etc..), broken headphones, and it's not fun to mix anymore. It also becomes very discouraging to finish a mix that you started recording, and realize that your beats aren't perfectly locked. Which is why I actually post only 1 out of 50 or so mixes every now and then, because I'm not satisfied with how my equipment holds up(drifting, clipping, etc...). Now, it's gotten to the point where I have trouble spinning on new technics with minimal drift without warming up a little!

But I still do it, because it's the skill and technique(no pun intended) developed that matters, not the equipment. It is impossible to match beats 100.0% accurately, but it is 99.9% of the time. So keep practicing, the haters, and be realistic: if you can't do it anywhere else on top of your CDJs, then you've got other issues to consider, like wasting time and money. No offense, but the truth is the truth.

Why would you ride the pitch on both decks?

That same question occured to me too!!

Not too long ago some one worked out the actual difference between using .1, .05 and .02 using maths.
I can't remember how he worked it out nor can I be bothered doing it myself but according to FACTUAL MATHEMATICS even with .05 it is possible to keep two tracks together without adjusting for a fair while.

Nobody stop him,
let him buy the 1000s, argue with Pio and then realise the amount time+money he has waisted.

moaning about 800's??? jeese. try mixing on some soundlab beltdrive tt's from 99. i remember getting tracks synced but having to completely redo the syncing after every re-cue!! cdj's are too easy to mix on with 0.1% let alone 0.05% definition...
